This is a great teaching, and consistent with "counting others more important than ourselves." Serving someone else lifts us out of our situation and into theirs. our attitude changes, like when you're suffering, and despite your feelings choose to sing a worship song. Connecting with God brings hope!

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country try" - John F Kennedy
I believe this means so much more when we apply it to a Christian context. So many times we ask God to serve us rather than asking God how can we serve him. Our prayer every morning should be to ask God how we can be of service to him so that we may be a reflection of Christ everyday.

So true thank God. A life lived serving others first doesn't give time for anything but gratefulness to Jesus for His sacrifice and your own blessings.
92/365: How To Improve Your Outlook
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. ~ Hebrews 13: 1-2
Your faith grows when you give others a glimpse of God in you. A kind word or a helping hand is what sets the stage for us to experience God in action.
If you are grinding to get through your hardship, find a way to serve someone. Show kindness to someone. Help someone. That is the number one way to hear God's voice.
When we focus on others, it's difficult to focus on our worries.
