Contribute your gifts for the benefit of others. Lend your strength and leadership to a community of faith.

God is worthy of our praise... and we are really good at it when we do it together.

I began as a "Pew-Sitter" attending church but not involved. Not surprisingly I was Spiritually empty feeling very alone. As I gradually began volunteering & plugging into Small Groups things dramatically changed. Volunteering made me feel not only better about myself but I started feeling a part of the church. The small groups helped me learn how to apply the Bible & my Spiritual life expanded!

Here's a recent win for me that I'm excited to share with my brothers in Christ: Many years ago, in response to an impassioned prayer, God guided me into ministering to kids in my church through storytelling with puppets (and then with ventriloquism). I have enjoyed this greatly and marvel frequently at the stories God gives me to share (many have deep lessons even for the adults). I have also, on occasion, been given opportunities to share beyond just my local church and on larger scales than children's stories during church services. After a recent story at a sister church for their Easter program, the pastor's wife contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in providing five to six days of programming for kids at our annual campmeeting. I thank God for preparing me for this and for presenting me with an important (and fun) opportunity to minister to kids. And I'm grateful for this community of brothers with which I get to share not only this win but also my struggles and other insights (and a community that provides so much inspiration and encouragement). Never in a million years would have thought that I would enjoy going to and being part of a church. As a transformed man through Jesus Christ and a recovering alcoholic addict, I seek to be a part of this thing, a part of the fellowship and a family under God's direction and care. Today, everything I do is related to God's love, the teachings of Jesus, and recovery from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body, a misery that I had been miraculously freed from. There is purpose today, in all that is good and all that is challenging. It has become somewhat autonomous for me, this has manifested into a lifestyle, this is who I am and who I am supposed to be... and I love it! Thanks be to the God who retrofitted my failed parts into this machine, forged my gears to mesh with these mechanisms of freedom, goodwill and hope, all working for the greater good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Becoming a load-bearing link in this irreducible conglomeration of life, I remain grateful. God bless you all.

Ashley thank you, I wholeheartedly agree. It takes vulnerability, honesty, and courage on both sides. Being such a new member I quickly noticed this in church events. My brothers are wonderful, I notice a majority have difficulty with the vulnerability and courage part. They need help to be "warmed up". Before I'd be discouraged thinking, I'm new why is no one approaching me, trying to get to know me? and if they did they be insincere almost like robots. Then I realized everyone is loved by God, and they are on their own path. I stopped waiting and initiated things, and quickly found new friends. I see God has placed a special purpose within me to edify the body, especially new members, I the body of Christ. Bless you all, Let not the enemy keep us in our heads, we have such valuable gifts to give. Amen.

The church can be with a large group or with a close friend. Both are important to me. I’m more open with my brother in Christ, but love my time with both. Love you Jesus! 💚🧡💜💛

Ash absolutely nails it this morning and wrote pretty much exactly what I was going to write. I too found a brotherhood much like the one I had many years ago in the Marines. Suddenly life had purpose again. To purposely be a beacon to those still suffering in whatever way and showing through our example how good life can be. To live a purpose built life in this regard to always be ready to help others find the path. I know the only way I can remain equipped for that is to surround myself with men of faith. After all we are the sum total of the people we spend the most time with. I thank you God for helping me to rebuild my life in your light. I love you God amen 🙏

Fellowship is just one of the many great benefits to stumbling my way into the rooms of recovery. There, I found complete openness and honesty I’d never experienced before. I’ve found a brotherhood that transcends the military, or anything else I knew existed. From there, I found the courage and necessity to bring that honesty, openness, and genuineness into the small group discussions and relationships within my church. JFK said it best, “ask not what your church can do for you, but what you can do for your church.“ It’s true, I’d always expected to only receive when it came to church. What little Bible study experiences I’d had, always felt like others were keeping their cards to their chests. After working through the 12 steps with another man, and experiencing how that complete honesty and vulnerability was the key to unlocking my freedom in Christ, I no longer worry about how honest others are, only that I am. That’s the kind of ingredient that leads others around you to slowly show their cards, too. God, help me to keep my cards on the table for all to see today, amen 🙏🏻

I know we should be more involved in a church. All we do is sit in a chair and listen. It’s very hard to do more than that bc my wife thinks all I do is stare and ogle the women there. I have a men’s group I go to that meets every other Saturday. I have a guy I try to meet with on the off weeks. That small group setting is far more like church to me. It’s in those settings where we can more obey today’s scripture from Hebrews. Having said that, I know we should be more involved with a local church. Please pray for us.

I have to give praise to God for delivering me from philosophy, alcohol, heavy metal music, healing my stressful complications from Chantix, huge success in flipping homes that I didn’t expect and that’s giving my mom a good retirement (flipping together)
