God gave me two ears and one mouth for a reason… I should listen twice as much as I speak. This, is probably my biggest challenge today. As I learn more and more about God’s way, I get excited like a child and crave to spirt out advice and knowledge all over, rather than seek to understand first. How in the World can I say anything that will help someone where they’re at, if I don’t take the time to listen to where they’re at? How am I to be of service to God and others, if I’m too busy talking to hear what they need? How can I expect other to talk to me, if I’m not listening? Relationships, business, and my Faith all require the same thing from me. To listen and seek to understand what is needed, BEFORE I go into action. My desire to be understood, must take a back seat to my desire to understand. Amen 🙏🏻

I used to always pray to God like a kid begging Santa clause. never understanding why he doesn't just give me what I desire. The truth if God had ever given me what I desired straight away I'd never be ready for it and disaster would be right around the corner. I have to listen for God's word to come through this world, and it does if I keenly listen to those around me. As far as being a good listener to my friends and others.. especially someone I'm in conflict with I have found simply saying "so this is what I'm hearing and then echoing what I understand" it slows things down in an argument and allows me to get outside of my wants to understanding and compassion instead. Am I perfect at this, nope but I try to make progress always on it. Just doing this alone has helped me a great deal on so many fronts in relationships with others. Thank you God for always guiding me, should I listen. 😊🙏

Listen with your heart, not with your ears. Speak from the heart. Look with Christ’s eyes. Love you Jesus! 🤎❤️💚🧡
154/365: Be Quiet and Listen
To answer before listening — that is folly and shame. ~ Proverbs 18:13
Have you ever offered advice to a friend without truly listening to all of their concerns?
Have you ever prayed to God just so you could let Him know what His answer should be?
Be quiet and listen when you don't know what to do or say. Prayer is a two way line of communication - listen twice as much as you speak.
GO DEEPER: JAMES 1:19-27
NEXT STEP: Spend a few minutes in prayer, just asking God to speak - and you listen. Meditate on his Word and listen to the indwelling of the Spirit.
