129/365: Are Your Decisions Producing The Right Results?

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. ~ Galatians 6: 7-8

The field doesn't determine what grows from the soil. The seeds placed in the field is what yields a crop.

If you aren't happy with how your life's harvest is turning out - perhaps it's time to plant different seeds?

But be patient. Harvest comes after you work the soil by the sweat of your brow.

I think karma goes a step further to say you get what you deserve and thank God we don’t get what we deserve because of what Jesus did. We all deserve death for the sin in our lives Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Karma is actually a Christian principle. You reap what you sow. What comes around goes around. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. Ride to live, live to ride. A dog always returns to his vomit. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Plant good seeds, harvest bountiful fruit.

A person can reap what they sow in life. I know I did when I was using drugs. I rejected God and was doing my own thing and it lead to trouble. Since I started doing things God’s way things really smoothed out for me. There are still rough patches from time to time due to left over roots that have to come out but it’s a lot better than it was.

To Clarify the devotional: if we plant seeds of malice, envy, discontent, hate, envy, pride - they will sprout and become full grown in our lives. The idea is to be mindful of what we sow. It’s foolish to plant thorns and expect God to make them fruit. Scripture is super clear about how to set our expectations.

@Grayson the seeds referred to in the Galatians verse at the top of the devo is what I and I think we all are referring to. We reap what we sow. If we sow to the flesh we will reap those results. If we sow to the spirit we will reap the benefit. Yes, the Matthew reference is DEFINITELY about the sowing of the Word of God - the Gospel. We need to sow that. The soils in that parable is the hearts of the hearers. However, in our hearts and in our lives we will reap what we’ve sowed. Are we seeking to satisfy our flesh or are we pursuing godliness, righteousness, holiness, and purity. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 says “God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives.” Another scripture says we are to be holy bc He is holy 1 Peter 1:16.

Seeds are the things we think and say and do. To sow to the flesh is to think sinful, evil, or lustful thoughts or to speak evil, or commit evil deeds. Let's put all that away and commit ourselves to clean and Godly thoughts, words, and deeds, so that He will bless us as our lives honor Him.

My Understanding, especially after reading the verses, 18-23, following the passage mentioned; The "seed" is the Word of God and depending on the soil in which it is planted, the person to whose life the seed was made known or planted, determines the yield thereof. We/Christians plant the seed in others lives by spreading His Word, the seed. What another does with that seed is between that person and the Lord. Please read further.

Around 8 years ago I started planting different seeds and to begin with I started to see a good abundant harvest. I was very thankful at first but after awhile I started to get comfortable. Soon the roots of the weeds I had pulled off started to grow again and although I would stomp on them, pile more dirt on top of them or pull them off at the top but time and time again they would continue to try and pop up, I was failing to get the roots out and just covering them up or doing a quick job of getting rid of the weeds at a surface level wasn’t working. Then God began to show me what I needed to do to get rid of the weeds, to thoroughly go through exposing and identifying every weed, bringing in my family and close friends to see the weeds that has been invading my land and ask them for help in removing and utterly destroying every root. I am in that process now and I have hope that there is an incredible harvest coming

Great shares, and Robert were praying for your family in these times. I’ll share my experience with gardening that took me from reaping my own harvest, to enjoying the harvests of others. Once we’ve practiced proper weeding, fertilizing, watering of our gardens, it is our responsibility as Christian’s to look around us at others who are ready and willing to begin learning how to better tend to their own gardens. Life here on Earth is not simply about tending to what is ours, just our lives. It’s about helping others tend theirs. That’s why we come here, that’s why we share, and that’s what Jesus’s entire life was about, to serve others. I can not help anyone else, however, if I have weeds in my own garden. Who would want my help, if my own garden is fruitless or over run with weeds? Who would choose to better tend to their garden, if they did not look around and see for themselves the fruits a well tended garden can produce? Attraction rather than promotion, I can’t convince anyone they need a better garden, they must see for themselves what is capable in their own backyard 🙏🏻

If you have ever planted a garden you know that with just one seed you can grow an entire plant which produces many more seeds in its fruit that it bears. So if you’re planting seeds of fear, resentments, anger, judgement, etc it should be of no surprise that these things continue and you’re left with even more of it. So plant a different seed. Plant the one and only seed you’ll ever need to plant again. The seed of Gods truth. Plant it in all things. It’s really resilient and can grow literally anywhere. It produces the most beautiful fruits and it’s fruits drop to make more and more. But it all starts with a decision to plant it in the first place and great care to weed around it and water it daily with prayer and meditation. This is the way. Thank you God for this way of life. I love you and amen 🙏

I don’t disagree often, but I have to with this devotion. I don’t think the solution is planting different seeds as suggested here. If you read the reference scripture, as well as the parables explanation in verses 18-23, you will notice that in every situation the SAME SEED was used. The same message was heard. Therefore, the harvest reaped is dependent on our attitude and application of Gods Word. This is evident in verses 18-23. We can hear it, but not understand. We can hear it and accept it but not trust it and turn away when challenged or ridiculed. We can hear it, but let worldly desires or the love of money make us feel sufficient in our our strength. Lastly, we can hear it and REALLY understand it by study, meditation, and prayer. It’s all the same seed. What we do with it determines the outcome.

There are good seeds out there to plant, but we have to be careful where we plant them. Choose your soil carefully, or you are wasting your seed. We can all grow a good crop if we fertilize with God’s word. Love you Jesus! 🤎❤️💜💙

Michael - God is great-ALL THE TIME. We all have planted seeds exactly as this parable is explained by Jesus. The seed of lust through pornography was planted in my life at an early age and took root. It’s a daily battle but…..with prayer (weed killer) greater seeds have rooted.

What a verse for today and the news I got last night! I’ve been working with another live bold member from Zambia (I’m in the states) to help him raise money for college-his fee deadline is mere weeks away and we were less than half way there financially-I renewed my prayer, “God, I have no stake in this except to try and do a kindness to a practical stranger, but I am a teacher and basically poor myself, so if you’re not in this, please let me know-12 hours later the “live bold family” as they called themselves donated the last $800 allowing us to hit our fundraising goal and better still, allowing Mwiza to finish his degree and change the financial trajectory of his life and those he loves, forever!!!! This is one of, if not the most selfless thing I’ve done in a decade, no surprise God was all over it!! Truly it has made me hungry for more and changed my outlook on life-it’s not about me, Jesus commanded us to love one another and basically said, “watch me show up when you do!” Thank you Jesus! thank you live bold family! Thank you brothers!!

It was about a year ago my farm of crops was destroyed. I didn't care for my crops I didn't weed or water my fruits like I should have. My crops were green but all that was on the surface, my crops didn't have very good roots or any roots at all. when the storm hit I wasn't ready for it. I started to look at others fields and become jealous. I have planted new seeds on new soil and my crops are starting to surface. I need to keep my years of experience mostly bad and learn from my mistakes and take proper care of my seeds. my field is starting to grow, I pray that my roots stay strong 🙏
