I know when fear and anxiety creeps up in my heart that I have placed too much worth and value in things of this world. Constant examples are praise and approval of people especially from work, family, and friends. The Bible and devotionals constantly remind me of what is everlasting and keeps me in the right mindset to face this world with confidence and minimal fear.

@Tommy Williamson - brother, I know you work with wood. I’m interested in making a cross to maybe put in my yard. I don’t want a typical smooth cross made by smooth 2x4s. I want to use rough looking logs from the wild if you know what I mean. Not sure how tall I want to make it yet. Maybe 4-6’ tall? Any suggestions? You can use the messenger on this app or reply here. Thanks Brother

I also have trouble fighting the God fight. At times I just want to give up because it seems like it’s not worth it. I try and do what I’m supposed to do but it seems at times it doesn’t work. Then I feel bad because I didn’t use faith to combat it. I know it works out for good but it’s frustrating going through those things.

The only motivation fear gives me is motivation to run to God. When God says, "Fear not," and He follows it up with, "For I am with you," we can become confident because we know who He is. And when we're advised to resist the devil and assured that he will flee from us when we do, the secret to success is found right after that when we're told to draw near to God. Nearness to God causes Satan to flee. He's not afraid of us. It's God he's afraid of. When fear sends me running to God, God takes care of the situation.
Brothers, let us remember that God is bigger than any problem, stronger than any enemy, wiser than any scheme that man or Satan can devise. And let us remember that, when fear comes in, it's a signal to run to God, our steady Rock, our mighty Fortress, our loving Father.
God bless, brothers!

Fear is the opposite of faith. Knowing that things will turn out good is a motivation created by the fear through my faith. I do have to get out of bed and use the gifts God has given me to make things happen. I don't like to be afraid and rather fight than flight. Where does that motivation come from? Good question to ponder.
Thank You God for Jesus and showing us the way.

Fear was a big motivator for me early in recovery… Fear of drinking, fear of waking up not remembering what if said or done, fear of who may of seen me, fear I owed apologies again. Then it was fear of what others thought about me, and if I drank again what they would say, “it was all a show, I knew he hadn’t really changed”. Fear of losing my kids, my career, and letting down my family again. But like Brandon said, at some point in the journey we can transcend fear as our motivator. Place trust in God over situations I have no control over enough times, and each time I see where He’s far better at solving problems around me than I am. Especially when I see clearly what is mine to do, and all the rest which is His to handle. As I build that trust in God handling the things around me, the people, their words and actions, fear then loses its power. I go from a posture of “what if X happens” to “even if X happens, God will work it out”. Today, fear is really only is useful in the sense that it highlights areas I need to pray and mediation on, and focus on handing whatever that is over to God, or maybe taking care of whatever tiny part is mine to do. God, remove from me all fear and whatever character defect it is tied to today, amen 🙏🏻

@Brandon in regards to fear. for me anyway I think it can be a great motivator depending on the situation. fear of not being able to pay bills or be broke will get you to pick up the phone to look for work we'll get you to redo your resume. fear of your cattle not having enough hay for the winter will make you tend your crops better... I get what you're saying about other ways to motivate but at least for me fear like pain can be a good thing at times. I also voice text people so don't judge my spelling or punctuation hahaha.. God bless

Worry and doubt eat us up and change nothing. God will provide one way or another. I’ve found all worry does is cause me unneeded stress. Love you Jesus! 💜💚💙❤️

I don’t really have any desire whatsoever to use fear as my motivation. I’m not sure why that was the question when it said fear is not a teammate. I will use love as a motivator. Camaraderie as a motivator. Forgiveness as another. Those three things above all us are what gives me purpose in my day. To be helpful to those I love. To be bonded with those I share burdens with that we may carry our torches to light the night together. I want to set that example for my kids and those around me. They have seen the example of motivation by fear for too many years and all that did was make me a nervous anxious wreck who tried to manage everyone else in order to manage my own fears. It made me tired made my very soul fatigued. I am to let go of fear and just trust God will be there and trust He will provide at least enough comfort to make it through the hardiest of times. That’s what I’m sticking with for motivation. Gods truth, His love, His forgiveness, His grace, and so on. Thank you God for helping me beat back the deep with you righteous right hand. I love you God amen 🙏

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you; don’t be distressed, for I am your God. I give you strength, I give you help, I give you support with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 Complete Jewish Bible. Fear, doubt, distress, worry, stress anxiety are all tools of our mortal enemy. He uses them in the most effective way to that he can can to help us feel that we are not good enough Christians to continue on. God on the the other hand tell us not to be afraid, distressed, discouraged, worried, fearful, doubtful, distressed, anxious or stressed because He is with us to give us strength, support and help whenever we need it. Just as the animals look to God for there every need why shouldn’t we, his greatest creation, which was made in his own image be just as trusting of Him. However He also gave us the will to go out and LIVE BOLD as we proclaim Him to the world.

The Good fight takes effort and it's draining sometimes. But it only is when the devil has infiltrated his voice and perception of the "good fight" as these things. I'd much rather be on Zion with my Lord and savior providing comfort and peace from this old world. Then allow this perception of the "good fight" hold me back. With God this world is so much easier to bear and theres always a true peace and a true victory. We know how this all ends, so dont let this old world bring us down claim victory today in our Lord God! Brothers make sure there's nothing holding you back from God's grace, ask him daily to show you anything that you are doing that he is upset with and listen to his voice. Strength and Encouragement today. God bless you all. 🙏 ❤️ 🙌

FIghting the good fight can be exhausting at times but I remember when I didn't fight that fight. I would give into my darkest desires and temptations. Then my shame and guilt would compound my anxiety. I would spend so much energy trying to hide my sinful habits from my wife.
Today, I don't view porn and I've turned away from those habits that I sought as a release from life's difficultly. Life is full of pressures and expections but walking with God has proven to be a much lighter load to carry. Even today, when I couldn't sleep because my boss is observing me at work as part of my annual review and I only slept 2-3 hours, I know God will give me the energy I need when I'm tired. He will give me joy when I feel grumpy. He will provide my every need when I ask Him.

This is true, find a Men’s Group of or Bible Study at church, Satan is the master of lies and he wants to keep us in the dark. You surround yourself with light and STAY IN HIS WORD. Jesus fought Satan’s temptations in the wilderness with God’s Word. Because it is the only truth in this world it is the only thing Satan has no defense for.

You are not alone brother. But effort to stay in the spirit is easier if you can surround yourself with people who share this goal.

There are some days , if I’m being completely honest, I get tired of fighting the good fight…on those days…fear, anxiety, and worry pounce and lock me up such that I can barely function…so it’s back to fighting the lies of the enemy and putting on the armor of God and praying without ceasing. Am I the only man here who believes it to be exhausting? I am not judging God bc I was and still am a total sh*t without Him, just being honest. Strength and Courage my brothers!!
116/365: Freedom From Doubt
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! ~ Luke 12:24
God wants us to be free from worry, anxiety, and fear which steals our contentment and joy.
It's time to treat worry, anxiety, and fear as your opponent, not your teammate. Don't eat the bad seeds of doubt, but feed on the truth of God.
God always provides options - but he doesn't always throw the seeds into your nest. You have to go and seek them.
