88/365: Adding Power To Prayer

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. ~ Acts 4:31

Take another look at how the disciples in the upper room were empowered through prayer:

They prayed,
They were moved,
They received God's spirit,
They were empowered to boldly talk about God to their community.

Prayer is an expectation to encounter Almighty God through His Spirit and through Christ's veil.

Our prayers can be powerful as long as we remember to carry forward after we say, "amen".

Prayer is your pathway to overcome your obstacles. Expect it.

Prayer is a very powerful tool. Like others here I can’t explain how. I’ve struggled with alcohol marijuana and anger. One of the keys to control these things for me is prayer. I can’t do it in my own.

I pray that I can fully give up my worries and anxieties to God. I know that he is always with me. My faith is weak only because I don’t feel I am deserving.

Thank you all so much, especially my brothers in arms who can truly relate. AA is a lifestyle for me and it’s the medicine Jesus gave me to stay sober from alcohol. I have experienced 3 inpatient and 3 intensive outpatient programs for alcoholism. My last drink was on May 10, 2020 and I’ve had no desire to return back to living life with demons in a bottle. Even though I have been sober for a bit, that doesn’t mean that my head is healed from my thinking or negative emotions. As an alcoholic, I can justify almost anything. I bring church into the local jail here in New Hampshire, attend AA meetings on a regular basis, but feel inadequate or uncalled to the jail ministry because of my use of cannabis. I read God’s Word every morning, read daily devotions, and AA related material to get every morning started. I absolutely trust Jesus with my everything but sometimes my mind doesn’t coincide with being still and wait for the miracle to happen. The most negative death experiences I have witnessed has been in the rooms of AA (suicide and drinking accidents). It’s scary to hear that men with double digits of sobriety decided to pick up the bottle again, and eventually take their own lives because the struggles are to much mentally, spiritually, and physically. I can understand how men get to this point and I definitely don’t want to be a statistic like that.

God bless you all, my brothers. Prayer works, I can't explain it, but I know as a fact that it is real. It is my com. line directly to God, the one who created me, and all, out of love. I believe we were created spiritual beings and need to communicate in the spirit to God. The gift of the Holy Spirit is an overwhelmingly awesome thing to ascribe. The power of God goes deep. My prayer, in hope, becomes reality when faith overtakes the perception of what we call reality. It becomes a manifestation of the will of God in complete engagement of my hopes as they pertain to my will when they mesh with covenant, or promise of God's grace. This is the Good News. I find it difficult to articulate my comphension of this. God knows our hearts, sometimes without words, very well. There is only one truth, and many versions of what others see as their truth. I don't worry about the judgment of others when attempting to the treatment myself for the greater purpose. I don't have to announce it to the world either. If seeking approval, I usually just ask the God of all understanding. As in as many as there are facets of objective, there are what's right for me and not for others, if a black hole were imploded, a wormhole, or hyperspace to another time with the answers. Can we know peace? Thank You Jesus, the Prince of Peace and Love.

In my personal journey with sobriety from alcohol, I too found comfort from my cravings by use of marijuana. My first year I struggled to maintain full sobriety, and the most I had acquired I think was 3 months of no drink and no weed, while 6 months with no alcohol. My last drink or drug was Dec 14 2020. I don’t pretend to be an expert, and I have zero judgement towards others who struggle with this disease and how they choose to treat it. For me, it had to be complete surrender and dependence on God. I sat with my sponsor and earnestly sought the root of my fears, and then what I was turning to in those times for comfort. Was it God? Was it prayer and meditation? No. It was a substance, or a woman, or Netflix, or food, or a cigarette, or some other worldly thing rather than the true source of everlasting comfort. For me personally, I must surrender each morning, humbly and honestly wishing Gods will rather than my own, and the humility and trust that whatever His will be, it must in some way be better than my own. This difficult mindset to acquire, is truly the cure to every worldly ailment. I served two tours in combat, saw and did and had happen to me an my brothers the worst this world can dish out. Last weekend I sat around a camp fire with 15 of them who are left, completely sober, answering questions regarding how I’ve managed to break free of these chains of PTSD, alcohol, drugs, looked them square in the eyes, and saying “I’ve learned how to trust God”.

It all started with a prayer, I didn't know what I was doing or if I was even praying correctly. All I knew was the God of the universe is real and hears prayers. Nowadays my prayer life went from a "chore" to a Joy I lose time in. Today's reading is great, praying in the Spirit is wonderful and powerful. The Lord God sees our every effort, he is faithful, transformation is real, it takes daily effort. Be diligent. God Bless you all.

And something else Scott, we are not alone in these struggles of ours. Please read Romans chapter 7, the incredible apostle Paul had thoughts as we do. If he himself had issues, then I consider myself blessed to be in his company. Amen brother and again God Bless

At the time of the that the followers of Jesus had gathered together to pray they were at a loss. They had just witnessed the betrayal of their Teacher, Friend, Leader and Master at the hands of a beloved brother who was trusted enough to be the money handler for the group. They had watched the cruelty of Jesus’ trail and death. Then just three days later had discovered that His tomb was empty. Even though Jesus had returned to them for a period, He left again as he ascended into Heaven to bd with His and Our Father. They were scared and feeling uncertain. We’re they next to be hunted down and killed. Who among them might be willing to betray them. What were they to do now. They began to seek and pray until the Holy Spirit fell upon every man and woman in the room and filled them with boldness and power. They lost their fear, regret and doubt and began to stand up boldly for the things that Jesus had taught. The chance of arrest and punishment was still there but they no longer let it force them to hide and cower in fear. Seek the Holy Spirit in your life and watch your own blunts and fears melt away.

Semper Fi brother, you should know you are not alone in this at all. There are many of us out here that battle the same issues. My thoughts are that God NEVER makes mistakes when he does something. He made cannabis on this earth for a reason, we his creation have receptors in our body that are perfectly made for it. Man makes big pharma to profit their interests only. Was told by doc’s I make more money continuously treating you than healing you. Then was told meds for your pain and mobility are killing other parts of your body. Switched to medical cannabis and have issues with judgement by others who don’t know how to understand it. Continue to improvise and overcome, with Gods strength.He has yet to and never will let you/us dow. Even when we fail and let him down, he is always right there picking me up. Loving and caring for us his children and helping us in the right direction. You have got this, he has got you. We might not be able to see or understand it from where we are at the moment. But remember he only wants the best for us all, trust him always and know it’s gonna be alright. God Bless, guide and protect you always.

They received tongues of fire, I remember when I was 12 and was filled with the holy spiritual and began speaking in tongues. It was amazing experience.

it is only in struggles that I grow. I can no longer live life by the way I feel but I want to go a lot. these are the times when I need to turn to God and God's words and take advice from all you who have gone before me. alcoholics anonymous on page 164 that I must trudge the road of happy destiny. that I'm always moving forward with purpose even when it doesn't feel that way

Semper Fi Scott. I too didn't fight in combat but carried some things back to the civilian world that were better left behind. I can relate on the struggle to live life on life's terms. The Marines made me go from very competitive to hyper competitive. So the need to win and be right all the time became a bit of a bane for me. I was unhappy for many many years and difficult to deal with since it was my way or your going to get some knife hand style butt chewing. That's a lot of weight to carry around all the time. That's a lot of being "strong" for everyone else. I had to get meek and drop to my knees and truly give my life over to God as I understood him. Knowing, trusting, and believing he would absolve me of my sins and show me the way. Everyday I come here. Everyday I read this, Bible devotional app, and AA daily readings with intent to write out my thoughts on them to start the day by putting on God's armor this way. Someday the world punches me in the mouth dozens of times and I HAVE to find a way to pause and refocus my mind on God. Do I do it perfect absolutely not. There's more than a few times I am like damn really Brandon you kind of lost control over your human emotions. I do an inventory of why. Always it's I recognized it but a part of me wants to romanticize power and aggression even though I know that's not the way. I'm human and have character defects. So God I pray to you to help me with those today so I can serve You God. I love you amen 🙏

This morning I’m battling with fear and worry. I have been on my journey of sobriety (alcoholism) since 2014 and the battle rolls on each day. It’s my desire to be a positive Christian, decent husband and provider, accountable employee, and a positive roll model for fatherhood. I may be 42, but I still crave the desire to escape and not feel life on life’s terms. I have been taking medication for years now, and the sad thing is is that a substance that’s legal in some states helps out better than any other big pharma creation. I prefer to use cannabis edibles with a small amount of THC to assist me with my depression, anxiety, and non-combative PTSD I developed throughout my past career in the Marine Corps. I am always praying for the Lord’s forgiveness for my struggles and man, do I pray and hope he understands where I’m coming from. I don’t handle life very well and stress is my enemy. Therefore I found something that truly works but is looked down upon because the federal government says so. Please keep me in your prayers my friends.
