Dig deeper verse today hit me. “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.” Sometimes the things I hear myself say or hear others say while in church of all places… yikes. We need to take heed.

I went to men's prayer breakfast this morning. The pastor shared from 1 Kings 19 wherein God commanded Elijah to go anoint Elisha as prophet in his place. Elijah walked past Elisha as he was plowing his field with twelve yoke of oxen and threw his mantle on the young man, a symbol of Elisha's succession to that position. Verse 21 tells us that Elisha immediately turned back, slaughtered the oxen and roasted them on a fire kindled from his farm equipment. The fact that Elisha had twelve yoke of oxen showed his family was prosperous. He had a lot to give up in order to serve the Lord. Through this act, Elisha was saying, "I'm all in; no turning back." Lord pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us, that we would be like Elisha, willing to give up everything to serve You. Help us to pick up the mantle to proclaim the Good News to a dying world in such a time as this. LIVE BOLD my brothers.

Something me back... it's me. It is always me. Always has been. Now this took some time and some serious and I mean serious pain to realize this. I'd always blanket this by pointing my finger around at everyone else. The truth is we can all fly. God's gifts to us are truly boundless. We just need to step out of our earthly ways and let go of the fear that holds us back. I thank God every single day for some pretty extreme hardships I've had. Without them I would have never had to dig so deep to unearth the love that I always thought would be judgemnet. God's greatness flows through all of creation. It is the perfect symmetry, and we are all a part of this absolutely perfect and beautiful symmetry. At times it may feel asymmetric but as time goes on we may get to glimpse the why of things. Not always because that is the tree of knowledge that only God can reveal if it needs to be revealed to us. Thank you God for cracking the armor around my heart so your love could pour in, filling me up every morning and everyday with a purity of peace that is beyond my ability to put into words. Thank you Lord.

I believe for me, holding back was the fear of losing friends, being made fun of, a very wrong male ego? I look back and wish I would have been as outright about loving Christ as much as I am now. Maybe I could have reached someone else and helped them? The same as God has helped me. The family I have gained in my church family is priceless. I pray that I will continue to grow in my faith and be a testimony to the non believers. Without finding and having God in my life I wouldnt be writing these words. Praise him and all his glory!

In summary: Walk the walk, don't just talk the talk, right?! Some days it's an uphill walk, sometimes we're sleepwalking. Let The Spirit carry us up the hills and help us to keep our eyes on the prize brothers! Have a great day!

Viewing my past mistakes and failures, the hurt I have caused and the hurt others caused me, as a blessing once seemed impossible. Until I was forced by desperation to surrender my Will over to God, and humbly follow His will, I was in a state of constant regret and sorrow. I was fluent in the dialect of “Victimese”… My sobriety program broke into steps what was required for me to gain a new Godly perspective on my past, and current situation. I saw that, even sober, my self will was the root cause of nearly all my problems. Brutal honesty with the man in the mirror, helped me to humbly ask God to change specific character defects within me. One by one, they began to lose power over me, as I surrendered each morning. Until the day another man approached me to help him find what I had found, when I realized what I once viewed as my biggest regrets, were in fact Gods greatest tools. Through my past mistakes and failures I found the only way another man could relate to me, and find hope that he too, could find peace and joy again in God. Amen

I believe, if we truthfully consider this, we see that we are what is truly holding us back. Whether it be fear of the unknown, sin we struggle with, or wrong core belief and behavior patterns, we must allow The Father to lead us in overcoming these things within us. We need to live like we claim to believe, knowing that He has already overcame. Jesus says in the word, "In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." And James says in the word, "count it all joy, my brothers, when you gave trials of ALL kinds, for you know that in the testing of your faith produces patience." So with that being said, let us live in the victory He has already won.
85/365: Running Your Race With Force
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3:13-14
God's perfect natural law tells us that a body at rest will stay at rest until a force is applied against it.
When you feel stuck, slow, out of condition, or tired... you need force to get you moving again.
God's word is a force. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a force. The Holy Spirit is a force. The voice of believers are a force.
All you need to do is respond.
GO DEEPER: James 1: 22-27
NEXT STEP: As a believer - you are a force. Is something holding you back?
