If you want your family and friends to find the hope of Christ, you have to show up and bring it. You are the one to show them the way.

If you want to lead your community to God, then you have to stand up for God.

I am blessed with humble men that I respect and take advice from. They are pastors, members in men’s groups, and close friends. They are men that speak truth in my life and encourage me. Amen.

I lead for a living. I have been a leader since I was a boy. My father was also a leader, a Christian leader. I didn't always appreciate the Christian part of his sense of self as a leader, but now, older and wiser, I understand this now. "Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock" There are over 45 people directly "under my care". I take this with great gravity. I work for a multi billion dollar corporation. It is a good one in general, but I have worked in other companies along side executives who were interested in nothing more than their financial gain, putting that before shepherding their flocks, their teams. I thank my Father for the lesson in Christian leadership. Regardless of how distant I have grown from God, I, like my Father am a Christian leader to the core. God's flock under my care, their development, their well being is my and their responsibility. I am ALL IN for them!

Yesterday and todays readings really make for a one-two punch don’t they? Or, at leader they once would have. Be there for and serve your others, and then be humble enough to receive counsel and guidance from others. It’s almost like God wants us in consistent selfless service to each other, and humble enough to allow others to serve us. I can only speak for myself, when I’m in service to others my souls is filled far greater than when someone has served me. So, then, why would I ever deny someone that gift of being of service to me? Everything else I’ve learned in my journey of recovery has been paradoxical, so why wouldn’t my understanding of service be as well? Yesterday I was excited to see some great friends and clients of mine, wonderful couple. They were very encouraging and loyal during my early recovery days. The wife messaged me early yesterday morning to cancel our appointment, which seemed odd. I later in the day received word that he had passed away by hanging, she found him. Gentlemen, I know without a doubt God had plans for me to be there for him, and recognize that look in his eyes I’ve seen numerous times now, including the mirror. We must encourage each other, one more sunrise, and to pick up our bibles and phones 🙏🏻

Elliot many times a Christian’s actions speak a lot louder than our words. Every time we are out or actions speak to others that we have never and may never meet. Having a smile on our face, doing the little things for other people that they can easily do for themselves but we do it to serve. For example last year at the farmers market I early on gave several other vendors crosses that I had made. The first was to an Amish couple and when I presented it to them the biggest smile broke across his face and as he inspected it said complimented the quality and said it was a very nice piece and it would have a prominent place in their home. A second was a To a Gyro restaurant owner he hugged a kissed the cross and the following week he told me that it was now hanging in his restaurant for all to see as they came in. I was always helping others get set up and toward the end of the season the lady that runs the market came over and told me that we were the best addition to the market that she made in years. She further commented that spite of health issues that I had experienced I was always there to help and had a smile and many of the customers at their booth were always commenting on how pleasant we were.we should always have a pleasant manner about us and be willing to serve whoever and however Jesus wants us to serve.

God does speak through others and puts people in my life who help me grow in Christ. These brothers and sisters are so important to my faith, and faith without works is dead. God wants me to spread His goodwill. De Colores...God's beautiful and vibrant colors can shine through us all. Praise be to our God of Love and all understanding. ✝️

I do have advisors. I didn't have them for most of my life but through recovery saw the importance in them. Without advisors we naturally are left to our own devices and our own beliefs aka personal truths. These faux truths can distort if I'm not a part of a bigger group of Christians. The ego of man can and will seep in to twist them into things that can be bent to suit what the ego wants and desires. Having a close group of friends and brothers in Christ and very importantly being open and honest about my life with them keeps God's truth in perspective. It keeps me small, my ego minimized (character defect here) and relieved of management. It makes God HUGE!! And gives me clarity in all things. I am blessed to have learned I'm an alcoholic. Without that admission my ego would still be driving the bus like the sociopath it is. I love God and the friends He has guided me to now. It is the truth which I had always sought but was a little too afraid of seeking since I thought it would come with a nasty disciplining. You know what it came with... love and compassion. Mountains of it! I am so grateful God. I love you amen 🙏

I meet with guys every other Saturday (this morning) and another friend whenever we can. I need their strength a lot to help me get through the fires. God uses them more at times and less at other times. I pray I am a blessing to them as well as my family.

This is amazing, I went to a Christian treatment center yesterday and 1 petter 5:1-6 was written on the dry erase board at the front of the classroom. when I read it I couldn't find any words, I (Elliott) was left speechless. Caring for others is so powerful, talking to people without saying any words is so powerful. People who are true believers in Jesus say so much just by being in the room with others. Keep being advisors to others. it's so easy to spread love with just a smile 😁
