I hear you Brandon… but the US military doesn’t own all the acronyms. 😂!! Make it what you will. When we exchange the old selfish life and swap it for a new life devoted to Christ in us - the game changes. 💪

It’s like a 3 legged stool in a 12 step program, recovery, unity, service. Only a 5 legged stool here in this example. I think the key to keep in mind is that, as we grow, we have a tendency to focus on our strengths, and just like any other stool if one leg becomes longer than the rest and continues to get longer than the rest, that will fall over as well. They’re all equally important, and they all deserve equal attention and nurturing. God search me for where I’m lacking, and give me the strength to focus there, amen 🙏🏻

We all need to use all the tools in our toolbox to actively praise, worship, and serve our Lord and improve ourselves. Love you Jesus! 🤎💙💚💜

SWAPS for the military boys out there that don’t know it yet but need to have another acronym to memorize 😆 although I do like it. I could be better at all of these. I have my dedicated study time but it is nearly all dedicated to devotionals and such. I would like to add 30 mins of bible time in the evenings and start this on Monday. Then assess myself at the end of the week as to how I performed on the new goal. These five areas are pretty crucial to a good life. They set a foundation to live by and to grow with. Like a project charter with you and I being the project. Project charters are great because they give a rubric of measurements to use to assess progress and create space to set roadmaps and checkpoints along the way. Thank you for that this morning God and the new acronym! I love you God amen 🙏

Daniel, here is my take on your question. As we study, pray and even partner with others for our accountability we should also be worshiping our Lord and Savior for the things that he has done for us. As we service Him we are putting the other four into action by helping others. This could be something as simple as serving as an custodian for our church, serving as an usher in the church, helping maintain the church grounds, mowing and trimming a neighbors yard that can’t do it for themselves, sharing the love, kindness and joy that the Lord gives us by being kind to others, sharing God’s word with someone or anyway that we put hands, legs and voice to what God done for us. The old adage “ the only love we have is the love we share with with others”, could be used when it comes to service. The more we serve others the easier it is to pray, worship, study and help hold each other accountable.

Good question, Daniel. The way I understand it, service is about how you spend your time and effort to benefit others. Worship is time directing your reflection, admiration, and awe towards one you deem holds superior position, authority, and priority to you.

If the truth be told, I need to work on 4 out of the 5 items on the list. I am grateful for my wife because she holds me accountable.

I need to dig and get real with God. I’m tired of just being half-hearted about my walk with God.

I could use a little improvement in all the above but accountability would be a blessing because I have a tendency to get caught in life and don’t slow to tend to the things that are most important

I need to study and to serve
273/365: 5 Essential Tools for Christian Living
If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success. ~ Ecclesiastes 10:10
The skilled worker knows the importance of using the right tool for the job. As Christians, we should know our tools and keep them sharp. There are 5 tools every Christian should keep handy:
- Study
- Worship
- Accountability
- Prayer
- Service
The more you use the tools, the more skilled you become at being a complete disciple of Jesus Christ. Use them daily and watch your faith build!
GO DEEPER: Colossians 1:9-12
Next Step: Take a few minutes to think about which of these you have, and which of these tools you need.
