more often than not I feel like I'm in the 80s in a Olympic ice rink when I pray life hands me so many life altering emergencies it's also in a Russia for a miracle

After reading this I feel that the body of prayer, at least for myself, needs to embrace more of God’s desire for me and not “I am trying to do what I think you would want me to do.” God has a plan for each and every one of us and I think that too often in our transition to be better Christians we tend to put our spin of righteousness on it. What we may feel is the right direction might just be the complete opposite of what God’s plan is.

I know I do have trouble using prayer as a lamp. Gonna continue to pray God makes the desires of my heart to match his will.

I think I have probably been useing prayer like a lamp lately. And I appreciate this message because it helped me realize that. My problem is I get a opportunity but I don’t go though with what I think I should do and then I end up praying for another opportunity. This has happened multiple times and it’s almost like I am abusing the opportunity I get by not using them but I don’t mean to I just get nervous

Two people can be handed the same thing and one will be upset and disappointed while the other excited and grateful. The difference, I think, is perspective and preparation. Much of what Ive complained and grumbled about in my life I now look back and see them for the challenges they were, the tests, or the challenges. I was unprepared for them, and my perspective was one that I expected the world to revolve around me. We’re promised many things in His Word, but the two that stick out most for me on this topic are 1) The world is going to challenge and tempt me today. 2) God will be right there to help me overcome and grow through whatever the challenge may be today. Nothing the world can throw at me today, is enough to overpower Gods ability to carry me through until tomorrow if I maintain my surrenderedness to His will, not mine. That last part is key. I need to remind myself regularly throughout each day that Gods will and mine probably look very different in nearly ever circumstance that comes up today. That’s the perspective that keeps me from getting angry, irritable, and acting like a spoiled brat because something didn’t work out the way I’d hoped or imagined. I also need to remember each day that all those in my life have their own journeys they’re on, and it’s not my place to correct them, only to not trip them 🙏🏻

Prayer isn’t a shopping list or a wish list. I very seldom ask for anything unless it’s for someone else, and then just ask God to be with them. Occasionally I will discuss a problem and ask for guidance, but He is already on it. I pray to get closer with God, not beg for gifts. He has already given me so much. Love you Jesus! 💜🧡💙💛

I feel like I’m 50/50 in this. I feel like I am praising God half the time in prayer but then I feel myself sliding back to me me me! I am grateful that God is patient with all of us as there is days that I need more then others! Thank you Michael for the book recommendation, I read Wild At Heart so I look forward to reading another John Eldredge

Heavenly Father, thank you for another day we can wake up to you and read your word. Thank you giving us the Holy Spirit to intercede in our life’s and to guide us when we don’t know what to say or do. Most importantly thank you for giving us your son Jesus !

Continued…. Gods no different than that. He wants us to do the work for He isn’t in the business of mundane things. He’s in the miracle business and your messy life or messy room if you will isn’t in need of a miracle. It’s in need of attention and work. So get to work and do it for your father God. He loves to see us working hard in His name. I love you God amen 🙏

Robert , I know how you feel at times. I have thought does it really matter. Is He really listening or does He really care. When I have that kind of mindset I am forgetting who I actually am in Christ. I have to rember that in Christ I am chosen, forgiven,redeemed, delivered, one of His kids, etc.When I remeber… things change. Gentlemen have a wonderful day in Christ!!!😎

God is not Santa. I used to think that way and would pray to negotiate with Him. They were always selfish prayers with no over the horizon view. Gods working way beyond the horizon so I imagine Him to be more like a parent saying your getting what you get right now. Or to the grumpy kid who hasn’t cleaned their room in a month who wishes mom n dad would do it for them and they instead make life exceedingly harder until that room gets cleaned up. Gods no

I would be lying if I said I never prayed to God as if he is a "magic lamp". I wanted instant results and sometimes acted like a child in Christ if I didn't get my way or worse showed absolutely no gratitude if my prayer was answered. Now that I look back on it I was still a kid but atleast I was talking to God. See my walk with Jesus didn't start till I was 26 or 27 and I started asking for a few bigger things like "strength, wisdom, respect, patience." Then nothing would happen and I just didn't understand why Jesus would come into my heart fill me with love but not give me what I wanted. As a matter of fact education my life got SO MUCH HARDER!! Things in life started falling apart and so I prayed and prayed but it seemed like life just kept getting worst. Then one day I was out walking to the store in a storm to get groceries and I realized the rain wasn't so bad, I wont melt andheck we probably need it. The farmers are probably pretty greatfull, and I'm pretty lucky to live in a time I don't have to go hunt for my food to survive and very greatfull to the animal that had died so that I may live. It's as if I found a new perspective in the midst of a raging storm that was my life. God did answer my prayers but not in the way I seen coming. when I asked for strength he didn't give it to me, he gave me opportunity to be strong and grow, instead of wisdom he gave me a trial that I had to grown in to overcome. God's gifts to grow are everywhere and in every situation.

Good morning my brothers. I am truly blest by the reading this morning. I thank God that when we do not know what to pray the Holy Spirit steps in with "growings" for me when that happens things get truly done Amen. God keep and bless everyone of you. Stay strong.

Sometimes I feel like my prayers are so rote that it’s like praying “now I lay me down to sleep”. It seems like I pray the same things the same way almost every time I pray. Idk what I’m expecting it to be like, but I feel like something should be different. I often feel like I do all the talking (which I know I do) instead of trying to listen. I’m grateful the Spirit interferes for me. I need and want to be more effective in my praying.

Have you ever used prayer like a magic lamp? Hoping if you rub it correctly, God will be pleased and grant your desire? It doesn't work that way.
God wants to give us the desires of our heart, but He's looking for a heart which beats to His rhythm. As we mature in faith, the things we pray for...changes.
When we focus on God, He fills our needs and sets our desires.
