Even when we try to do good often, we still wish to get credit.
What you do when no one is looking tells the story.
Giving to get recognized.
What are your real motives for the good you do?
Careful where Satan slips in his desires to fool you into doing his deeds.
It's like someone who is against abortion because they believe it's murder, and then they kill an abortion doctor.
Be careful what you wish for.
What's the difference between a wish and hope? Luck and good fortune? Coincidence and Godinstance?
I don't want to draw lots on my life.
Doing good feels good. Others liking us feels good. Do I help others for them? for me? or to just do good? Or so I can tell others how "good" I am.
Love God because He first loved you...?
We all have heard that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Well, it also full of many potholes. If I do a wheel alignment for a comfortable ride, replace the struts, and buy new tires, I am still driving down that road. If I hitch a ride with someone else, I'm sure to go to hell. I can tell you a shortcut, give directions without much effort. Am I driving the steamroller? spreading asphalt? Is the rubber side down?
There's a detour ahead when I brown nose and manipulate, tell lies and blame others. I am still headed there.
Jesus wants us to turn around, away from false pride and greed. Do unto others as I would have done unto me.
Intemptuous evoking generosity.
Am I really sorry? or sorry I got caught?
do I really forgive?

I discovered at an early age that following the crowd, keeping up with the Jones was an exercise in futility and disappointment. The pursuit of such things is worldly and only serves to satisfy one's ego. Humility and good works are their own rewards; no need to declare to the world "look at me, look what I did". Stay rooted in His word, keep focused on His path and avoid the shallow, worldly distractions that ultimately lead to ruin. Praise Jesus!

Staying humble is one of the most important traits a Christian can possess in this life. This devotion is a solid reminder of what Christ has done for us and what we should be doing for Him!

On this side of recovery, I see where alcoholism and addiction are actually blessings… I can see very clearly that where there is less of me and my rule, there is more of God and his (Matthew 5). Therefore, where there is more of me, there is less of God. If I pay close attention to my stories, and what I talk about, I’ll see where my focus is on. Are my stories about me? My accomplishments? My problems? Me me me? Or am I talking about how God has helped me? How He’s working in and around me? How He’s helping someone I know? Talking and thinking about me allowed my pride and ego to take the wheel. I’ve found that my pride and ego are the very things that act as an internal flood gate to the flow of the Holy Spirit. We are all called to be channels for Gods love and His Holy Spirit to flow through us out into others throughout each day. If my pride and ego are running things, that flood gate is shut, and I’m focused on me. I’m selfish, and self centered in the extreme. Pride and ego use fear as their source of power, same as the enemy. God works in truth, and love. If I’m in “selfie mode” as the reading states, that’s a recipe for depression, anxiety, bitterness, and I believe it’s the true source of ptsd. For all these things, placing God’s will first, has proven the cure for me 🙏🏻

Brothers we all need to keep our eyes and hearts on our God. He is the one who protects us in hurricane force winds. He is the one who keeps your family, pets and farm stock critters safe. As winds and rain move things around like small toys in a play yard. He is the one that keeps you and gives his angels charge over you, Psalms 91. There is absolutely nothing you or I or anyone else to save yourself from that of force of nature. And the other things that we might lose sight over and take for granted. Electrical power, running water the ability to do most things when you want to do them. You realise just how blessed you are because of your fathers love for you. Praise your father today for all “HE” does and that we are not capable of anything by ourselves. Stay focused and moving forward to our future prosperity in him. God Bless you one and all, jeff

Good morning, brothers. God let's us plan out our life, but the only way to fit the pieces together is with his guidance. I tried for so many years to live my life with me in control. after 2 failed marriages, I quickly found out that I was living by sight and not by faith. I quickly found myself at the bottom of 33a hole that I had never stopped digging. Every time I would make progress climbing out of the hole my sight found something shiny and distracted me to the point were I got so disoriented i didn't know that I was digging deeper in my hole and not climbing out. With my focus on God and sharing the gospel, I find peace of mind. Please don't stop it will get better the harder you try.

I can remember clear as daylight before I truly surrendered to God what my cycle of life was. Be doing good and stop communing with God. Become boastful that I did and I run the show. Self sabotage one way or another. Run to God for help. Get help. Become boastful again I did it all on my own. Rinse repeat expecting a different result. The very definition of insanity. Each iteration of the cycle brought about worse low points and not as high, high points. If it were a candlestick chart it would be a bear trend until it crashed out and I completely broke. That was the moment of my salivation though and the moment I gave everything to God. The lows and especially the highs with humility that He not I got me there. It was the first time I’d ever given all credit elsewhere than me. It saved my life quite literally. Now that chart look like a bull run. Ya there’s lows but the lows are higher than the last lows and the highs are higher than the last ones. Every moment is a chance to grow close to God. Now I love myself and my life because I whole heartedly love God and understand all of it is because of Him not me. Thank you God for crashing me and then growing the heck out of me. I must pay it forward as was done for me. I love you God amen 🙏

I feel that I am often guilty of seeking the limelight and wanting the spotlight on me. However the spotlight should never be on me but on God the author of anything success I’ve ever had. I am nothing without him.

It's easy to turn the camera on "selfie-mode" when we get a win. But let's be real, Are we really the sole author of our successes?
What about God's role? What about the people in our lives who helped us get the win? Even in those moments where we "did it on our own", who paved the way to make that happen?
As Christ followers, we should keep the camera pointed toward Him. So our good deeds, riches, kindness, and effort tell the story of our relationship with Christ as the provider.
If the spotlight is meant for you, watch God set the stage and shine the light. Then, take your moment and point the camera back to Him.
