230/365: Finding Peace By Sowing Peace

Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. ~ Hosea 10: 12

If we want to be righteous and live our life pointed toward Christ, then we must sow those seeds into the people nearest us.

Don't sit and wait on the peace to zap you out of the clear blue sky. Go get your peace by helping others find peace in their lives. Sow it... so you can reap it.

How to seek the Lord? Keep an appointment with yourself for daily devotion and prayer.

With all that I have going I need to make time everyday to talk with the Lord. Recently anger and sadness has clouded my mind and my sight. I’m becoming increasingly anxious and irritable. Please help hold me accountable to the truth of the Lord and sow me peace and righteousness

This devotional definitely inspires me to re-double my efforts to give those around me the best of me! Ashley, I like your comment that sometimes we unload our worries and the worst of us on our loved ones, instead of giving them what they deserve, the best of us! In the same way, God asks for the best of us to be given to others. I am reminded of the sacrifices that God required in the Old Testament from the Israelites. It was always the first fruits of their labor, the best livestock, or in Abraham’s case even Isaac… thankfully, we don’t need to sacrifice animals for our atonement anymore! But, God still asks for the first fruits of our labor to be given in service to others. Lord God, I pray that I am willing to give the best of myself to others, as a way of honoring You!

This devo has me thinking about setting the tone. In any situation we walk into, we have the opportunity to set the tone of that situation. We can wait and allow others to set it, also. I’ve found most times if I wait, the tone will not be positive or productive, and then much time and effort will go into getting things “back in track”. This is why prayer prior to conversations is so impactful, or simply conveying upfront what you hope to accomplish while leaving room for the Holy Spirit and what else you’re not aware of that needs to transpire. If we start off by planting seeds of praise in others and positivity, that’s a tone that can produce fruits. Starting off with complaint, negativity, or just an all around bad attitude is sure to lead to more of the same. I have to be especially careful when coming into situations with close friends and family, this is a safe space where it’s easy to vent and let out all the muck I’ve been carrying. In this way, if I’m not careful, those I care the most for get the worst of me, instead of the best of me. God, and only God, gets the muck. Many scriptures specifically instruct us to bring God our worries, our troubles, and He will cleanse us. If I’m worried, I should take it to God. Upset? Straight to God. We shouldn’t seek a brother or sister in Christ to unload on, only to uplift 🙏🏻

I should make a sort of appointment/check in with my daughters mom. She’s going through it once again and i used to get very demanding of her in those moments of change because I’d see it for what it was an opportunity to change and shift her mindset so that this three year cycle stops. I need your assistance God that I don’t go into fathering mode. I need to simply drop some seeds and keep it very simple. Asking her questions that inspire her to think about her life and relationship with You God instead of the old way of telling her what to do. I pray she finds your and fully surrenders her life for good so she can experience the joy that is being constantly held by God. Help me to just be kind and not get frustrated with her. Help me and my girlfriend Brooke be great examples of what a fully surrendered life looks like and how much joy it brings to serve others. I love you God amen 🙏

I’m trying to get a youth group started at my school. I would appreciate your prayers that admin would be receptive to the idea. We have so many kids who are hungry for it! I’ve put in the request, now waiting on a reply!
