225/365: Getting your Mind Right

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. ~ Psalm 1: 1-6

You can't keep one foot in the mud and one foot in the dry if you want success in your faith and in your life. At some point, you'll need to decide where you will stand.

God tells us how he feels about indecision and living a double life on the fence (Go Deeper).

Lasting faith begins when we accept the responsiblity of our actions and then make a firm decision to stand with Christ.

We will step in the mud from time-to-time, but we choose if we remain or if we step back on the path.

I am in a place right now where I feel stuck in the mud. Much of my time as a Christian has been spent trying to repair the damage I did in my marriage, although I didn’t do very well at that until more recently. I have been so focused on changing myself and keeping the peace in my home that I have not done anything for Christ. I do not serve in the church, I don’t talk to others about Christ and I certainly don’t help others that are in need. I go to work and stay as distant from my customers as possible so as not to create any issues that would upset my wife and the rest of my time I spend at home or with my family staying away from other people for the same reason. Even when we go to church we get there late and just about run out the door after to avoid others. I know I’m living luke warm and I know I can’t blame anyone else but I don’t know how to balance between repairing my marriage and serving God

For me, I spent most of my life “warm”. I knew of God, tried to be a good person, but for the most part was looking out for myself and my own interests. I wasn’t following anyone, least of all God. The reason I believe we’re called to be in or out, is the same reason misguided Christian’s harm God’s image to others and drive a wedge between newcomers and God. Claiming Christianity while partaking in sin, casts a shadow of hypocrisy and creates resentments in others for God. This is where almost all the hate towards God is derived from, lukewarm Christian’s pointing fingers at others and each other. Lukewarm means that if I manage to maintain that half happy and half miserable state my whole life, I will have never experienced true happiness nor will I have helped anyone else discover it. I will have been relatively “useless” to God in this gift of life, as the scripture states. For me, I had to go all in with the mud and muck, before seeing the light and eventual outcome. It was as Jesus says in the sermon on the mount, Matthew 5 MSG “ Blessed is he who is at the end of his rope, for where there is less of him and his rule there is more of God and His.” It took going to one extreme, chaos, in order to be willing to seek God and His extreme, peace

This past Thursday I lied to my wife. Details was on the prayer wall. The old me would’ve shrugged it off. I would’ve convinced myself all I had to do was confess to God. After all, her reactions to my wrong behaviors were also so over the top that if I confessed it to her she would just lose it on me again. That was the old me. This time I chose to confess. It was delayed bc it was at my son’s play and had to wait til it was over. However during the entire play I was miserable and knew I had to do it. I did shortly after the play was over. Yes, she was hurt and angry, but not like Satan said she would be when he had lied to me and tried to get me to not confess to her. Lord willing there will be no more fence sitting for me. Lord willing I will NEVER lie again. I don’t want that guy rising up in me again EVER! I choose Jesus!

This is very good on this Sunday morning. Very true words because as a believer we will all fall short of the glory of God. Our righteousness is of filthy rags at best. We will mess up in the walk but it’s our actions that follow that make the course. Repent and get back on track. Jesus is the only way in this life.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve backslid into some old habits that created a lot of friction. Today and for the rest of my days, I choose Jesus! No more garbage behavior that Satan prefers!

In “going deeper” MSG version for 21st century dialect it refers to conquerors sit beside the Father. What does it take to be a conqueror. I think it takes a mission or objecting otherwise what are you conquering and extreme dedication and resilience. I want to be a conqueror of the dark. I want to be the torch in the night that lights it up. And I want that torch to burn hotter than the sun with Gods mighty blessing and love. To be a conqueror of the deep. I must turn all things in my life over to God and relax knowing He is the perfect father that can see with the most epic night vision goggles through the dark to what each of are to be doing and all I and we have to do is let him ignite us and lead us. Let my torch be a signal flare to those lost that they may find their way. That’s the purpose in this life. Let my gifts God gave me be fully purposed towards that. That’s the life I want and I pray for God. I love you amen 🙏

I have always found that it is when I am lukewarm or indecisive about which path I want to take is when I have the most trouble in life and in my spiritual walk as well. Many times in the Bible the Word mentions serving two masters and how we either love the the one and despise the other. For me I hate being stuck in the mud and quagmire of sin and having to listen to Satan an demons rattle on about how worthless I am. I prefer to walk with the Lord and listen to His affirmations on how great I am doing.
