224/365: Slow Down

This is the message we have heard from him [Christ] and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. ~ 1 John 1:5

Are you in such a hurry to grab "it" that you sacrifice quality time for "convenient time"?

As you navigate the path called life, have the courage to sit and wait on the light. It will come.

Today, pay attention to what God is doing for you. If you can't see His light - get off the gas, and slow down.

GO DEEPER: Ecclesiastes 3: 9-12

Next Step: Go find the blessing of this moment -- this place. Absorb the view, the peace, the presence... of God.

Thank you for the comments, gentlemen. If there is an upside to getting old, it is that it forces you to slow down. I wish I had discovered that when I first gave my life to Jesus in 1980. Thankfully, our Lord waits patiently for us to put the brakes on.

With all the injuries that my body has suffered over the years and the illnesses that have beset me that if I don’t feel like doing something that day then it doesn’t get done. Instead I spend extra time thanking the Lord god all the blessings He has done for me over the years, because even with all the bad that this come my way the good He has done for me has been even greater and more wonderful. Thank you precious Lord for all those wider special moments that you have given me and teaching me to slow down and enjoy them and You more and more.

This reading hits home! A few weeks ago I lost an old friend and fellow Marine to his PTSD battle. It didn’t hit me at first and all I thought was about how he was finally at peace. There was a weird gratitude for that. Then a couple of weeks later the crease in my armor was exploited. Suddenly I realized life is short what the heck have I done with my life so far and what am I doing now sort of thing. Ego took over as I began to beat myself mentally that I had conquered riches and all this material junk. Eeks! After a few days of that I knew my thoughts weren’t in alignment with Gods will. So I did what any Marine would do and tried to take charge and force fit things and prayer and meditation. Except those things aren’t going to do much if they are forcefully executed. Then I went to a meeting last night and the topic was gratitude. Suddenly the light bulb goes off and I had been in an ungrateful mindset. I relaxed into the meeting and listened. I got home and suddenly all of that angst I had built up faded away as I relaxed more into gratitude. Sometimes less is more. Less stressed out force and more relaxed reverence and gratitude. I thanked God for that. God is so amazing how He will literally talk through people at any given moment but in order to hear it I must relax. Thank you God and I love you amen 🙏

This world is crazy fast paced. Slow down and listen for Gods still voice. We can’t do that when we’re going full throttle. Love you Jesus! 💙💚💜🤎

The reading today is so true-you cannot find God in the busyness of life-you will hAve to build margin into your days if you want to hear from him. “Be still and know that I am God!”
