213/365: Purity Requires The Right Attitude

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. ~ Psalm 101:3

When something "vile" hits our field of vision, we have just a few seconds to make a decision to take it in or look away. When that decision is delayed, the stage is set for a loss.

Winning the battle of purity requires a gameplan set in stone before you reach that split second moment.

Like the Psalmist writes, we must decide to hate what faithless people do and have nothing to do with it. Where do you stand on that?

Does the Purity test ever get any easier? Seems as though nearly everything is sexualized, it’s everywhere. It’s always been hard to turn away and not look. Glad to see some men are successful at it.

Changing my mantra from all is here for me to indulge in and being egocentric to everything is here for me to serve quietly and not from a place of grandeur has helped me a lot in changing many lenses. When I’m at the gym or wherever and some beautiful woman strolls by instead of thinking I want to get some of that like I used to years ago, I change the thought to wow that is impressive discipline and dedication she must have. I know personally from many years of physique building how much round the clock dedication and discipline it takes to do it. So when I see an athlete woman at the gym or wherever I just think about the athlete part and think to myself get you some girl that is motivation for me to see someone else having success in a disciplined sense. Keeps me pure because it’s me rooting for success of another not me hooking up and eroding my soul. I want no part of that ever again. I did the hook culture thing when I was younger and just say no it’s awful what it did to me spiritually and took many years to heal all the way up from it. I have daughters so kind of an instant viewpoint shift many years ago when they were born since suddenly I realized all women are someone’s daughters and now I know they are all daughters of God and should be treated as if the father God was right there with you, because He is. Anyways little foggy today I had to work all night and am on low sleep. I love you God amen 🙏

Spot in Ashley, I too have to constantly remind myself to look away when I’m at the gym. It’s a major distraction and I admit my flesh is weak in those moments and have to remind myself to Armor Up!

I believe firmly that the fight for sexual purity is every man's battle. Satan is constantly bombarding us on the Internet, in mainstream media, and in the world to divert our attention away from our walk of faith. Jesus said, if we don’t fight lust, we will not go to heaven. “If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. I actually catch myself when I am able to stop, remind myself, and adjust my thinking. It feels good even if I feel bad for taking too long. I know that God is using moments to cleanse me and give me focus. It’s funny how sometimes I feel like I’m running to God like a little kid when they’re scared.

Major battlefield for all of us men if we’re honest. It’s important for us to armor up (Ephesians 6:10-18). Memorize scripture and fight in the power of the Holy Spirit! Good verses to use (there are LOTS): Job 31:1 covenant with my eyes, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 our weapons aren’t of or in our flesh, take EVERY thought captive, 2 Timothy 2:22 flee youthful lust, pursue godliness, Philippians 4:8 things for us to “flee” to and to think about, 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always and Prayer. We have a full and deadly arsenal of weapons at our disposal, but they MUST be used to be effective. Simple? YES! Easy? NO. We need to be in or get in a group of men who will be our brothers in arms. Build real community. Be authentic. Realize we are not the only ones experiencing these attacks. Make strategies for what to do in situations BEFORE we are actually in those situations is vital. Keep alert and aware (1Peter 5:8). Meditate on scripture and keep our minds engaged. Reject passivity! Lastly, we don’t do it for ourselves or our wives or our families first. First and foremost we MUST do it for the glory of God! That’s the only way to have true and lasting success. Everything else will follow. Our wives and our families and others will see it - eventually. Rak Chazak Amats! (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Mathew 6-22 The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy your body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!? This is personal to me as well and guarding my eyes to what’s tempting me is my best defense.

Inpure thoughts are something that I need to work on each morning. thank you guys for helping me understand how to handle these situations by sharing your faith with me/us. have a great day, brothers. Purity is a topic I believe for many of us is the filthiest area for us to clean up, both figuratively and literally. Memorizing scripture is extremely helpful to battle thoughts, and putting in place physical barriers is essential as well. At the gym, turning my back to distractions, at home staying off the computer except for work. One thing that’s been a very helpful mindset is reminding myself every single person is a daughter and son of God, a sister and brother to me. Also, the reminder that with each click and view of anything porn like, even ads portraying women as sexual objects, is a click or view that eventually supports human trafficking… I want no part in supporting the evil in this world, and a view of impure content, is a vote in favor of trafficking. This helps me steer clear of any impure actions, and battle any impure thoughts 🙏🏻

This one is hard and hits home especially when having marriage problems and currently separated. 1Cor 6:18-20 really hit though that more than anything I am hurting God more than my wife or myself.

Purity is a decision that is a lifetime decision. As such we will have times that it is a challenge, but we have to remember who we belong to. To me, that makes it much easier. Love you Jesus! 🤍🤎🧡💚

I’ve never really struggled with impure thoughts bc I bounce my eyes and don’t put myself in situations to see things I shouldn’t but was at a work conference all last week and one evening they served dinner by the pool of the hotel-a coworker pranced out in a very small bikini and I only saw for a split second before bouncing my eyes but the damage was done-have been battling impure thoughts since. But I go to war with them when they pop up in Jesus name!!
