202/365: Two Basic Requirements from God

One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” ~ Matthew 22: 35-40

Becoming a steady man of God requires two basic disciplines. Love God. Love others. And if you really want to love God... there is only ONE thing necessary for you to accomplish -- love others sacrificially.

Today, you know what you need to do. Give up a small piece of your light so that someone else may live a little brighter. You just have to take the next step and do it.

Obedience is how we know we love God (John 14:21). Loving God is how we love other people.

I really struggled withe this for a long time. How can I love someone that I can't trust, know, understand or respect? How do I love my enemy's but it was explained to my one day that makes perfect since. Love is a action not an emotion, you show love you recive love. This helped me see that How I treat others is how I love my fellow man. How I show compassion to my enemys and forgive the ones who trust passed agaist me is how I will be forgiven. All of these are action steps, things a must put forth effort in. The only bible some people will ever read will be your life.

I am a retired LEO and ashamed to say witnessed rarely while on duty. Late in my career while teaching jr. high boys Sunday school (sucker for punishment) I read a book called Share Jesus Without Fear. That book has a tear out card [Lifeway Press tem 005674731] that helped me immensely break through the stigma of "cold call" witnessing. I believe there will be people in Heaven partially because of the help that card did for so many people.

Amen brothers! 🙏. Showing your Love for others to show Gods Love can be accomplished with small acts of kindness. Even as little as a Smile, holding the door for others to enter or exit a door, saying Thank You goes a long way. Let’s all try to be kind to others on a daily basis. Have a blessed day brothers. 🙏🤙

I remember before I was saved I used to look at Christians and how helpful they were to pretty much anyone. I thought this bunch is looney how are they going to get their piece of the pie if they aren’t just out there taking it. But they almost always had a big piece of the pie and an enormous piece of the happiness pie. That eluded me for along time but always made me a little curious at how does one gain happiness that way. At that time my focus was always on what I didn’t have. Now my focus is on what I do have - Gods shining brilliant light and guidance! My focus isn’t on what’s missing it’s on how much I have in God and it makes me happy to share that with pretty much anyone. These acts of service are the light which draws in folks that are struggling and curious about God just like I was a couple of years ago. So on that note God remind me to be of service today and focus on being helpful to others in whatever situations pop up today. I love you God amen 🙏

In the hospital getting an infection cleaned out of a prior total knee replacement. Could have been reminded of this two days ago when the hospitals left hand did not seem to know what the right hand was doing. Will try to do better today to be more patient and kind when things do not go exactly as planned. These morning devotional s are exactly what I need to keep me on the narrow path. God is good!! Scoo

A couple of weeks ago I greeted a lady that by my booth at the market and then said if she had any question to please ask. She quickly came back at me with “what is the meaning of life?” Without even thinking I came back with a paraphrased version of the main scripture into todays devotion. My quick come back seemed to shock her. Then she burst into smile and said what a great response. We struck up a conversation and after making a $40 sale to her and then told her that it was the way of our Lord Jesus. Then also read to her about the importance of forgiveness as found in Matthew 6:14-15.
