187/365: Be Authentic

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
~ Psalm 139: 23-24

We want people to shoot straight with us... to be real. Right? We want authenticity and there is no better way to find it, than to start with ourselves.

First, stay real with God. He already knows your story - but you have to confess those hidden things to Him daily if you want to be authentic.

Second, just be yourself. No "Super-Christians" are needed. Just be a man who strives to get it right - doing the best you can.

Today is the day to stand up as an authentic man of God.

I was fake when I was using drugs. Hiding things from most people. It’s better now but I need to work on if more.

God has lead me to a life of gratitude, He has given me faith and salvation. feel moderately happy now that I've been through the ringer and come to know God's existence in my life. I have some changes to make.

@Michael what you’ve said regarding how “bad” these times and people are today, has been one of the many paradoxes I’ve discovered in my own journey. “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and His rule.” Matthew 5:3 MSG. This verse opened my eyes and dropped me to my knees, it was when I read this I realized how necessary and useful my “bad” situation was, because it wasn’t until then I FINALLY cried out to God, and asked Him to save me. It was only then, that I truly let go of the rest I was still trying to hold onto and control or keep to myself. As for the rest of the world, and how “terrible” it is, I’m excited now. I see now how, the worse it is out there, the easier it is for others to see the good in Jesus. The easier it is for others to spot our genuine love for them. The worse the world gets, the easier it gets for us. The easier gratitude comes. The easier it is to not fantasize about going back to the world… Take comfort brothers, you have the creator of the universe in your corner, amen 🙏🏻

I like that just be yourself. In my experience people can sniff out inauthenticity kind of easy. So if I act over the top way outside of my normal range when talking about God it’s going to be noticed and could cause hesitation for someone else to make that leap of faith. So I don’t want to do that. Plus being someone else kind of sucks. I love me nowadays so why would I want to act like someone I’m not. Especially when just being myself is more than enough in this world. And myself loves God and is so grateful for all the great and not so great things in my life. They are all needed to oroduce my love of God and this life. All of it has molded me into a God loving man who isn’t afraid to speak about how much I love God in conversation with anyone. Thank you for that God. You truly are a miracle worker in my life and everyone’s life. I love you God amen 🙏

No Christian costume, just be open and honest. People can tell if your putting on a show. Don’t try to impress, just be yourself. If they don’t like the fact you’re a Christian, you probably won’t change that. Share your story, and be proud of it. Love you Jesus! 🤍💛🧡💚

Ever since the pandemic started and people, well, sorta changed, not for the better…seems everyone got rude, more mean spirited, I got this job working from home, the wife contracted this rare disease-it lead to me isolating—no more mens group, church too infrequently…I started doing more digital discipleship…my sponsor/mentor tells me it isn’t enough, I’ve been reluctant to put myself back out there-in person-God, Father, I’m asking what you think about this?

I had something happen yesterday at the market my wife and I sale at on Wednesdays. It was hot, very humid and the air quality was not so good as the wild fire smoke had rolled in again. As I sat there one lady walked up and I greeted her then said if you have any questions about anything just ask. She quickly blurted out s question “ What’s the meaning of life?” Without wasting a moment I responded “ Love others and love God.” You could see the surprise on her face as she took in what I just said then a huge smile broke across her face and she responded “I like that and it was so genuinely from the heart.” As we continued to talk she started shopping. We talked about several things including my porn addiction and what started it. Then I got to share share two of the verses that helped me break that cycle, those being Matthew 6:14-15. I even pulled out my phone and read them to her and she was pleasantly pleased at hearing them. I didn’t even have to think about the answer to her original question as it truly came from my heart and the entire exchange just seemed so free and real that it made my whole day even though the day was miserable weather wise as we sat there on the hot asphalt parking lot, but to have such a genuine exchange about our Lord made the entire day worth it. Just be real about your walk with Him and let Him guide your heart and words.
