The world bombards us every day with things that are less than spiritual. Sex sells is the motto we live by. As a father, we need to always ask ourselves if this is something we would want our daughters to be doing. Remember, it is someone’s daughter. I’ve been guilty, I was a GM with Hooters restaurant that exploited women for the pleasure of men. We cannot unsee something once we’ve seen it, then our minds can become fixated on it. Pray that God helps us to erase the images and to not “stare” longingly when we know it’s wrong. Keep our minds pure dear Lord.

I am indeed in charge of what I am choose to see and do. I know if I should wander into an area that I need an assist from God will be there. All I have to do is ask for His help and I shall have it. I personally don't like the idea of living sheltered off in a bubble to avoid things I shouldn't metaphorically gaze at. I of course can live in a bubble and stay home and isolate myself from the world that is rife with temptation. Or I can choose to grow my faith by being incrementally vulnerable as my faith grows, and choosing to look away instead of choosing self indulgence. I like this was of life. I have been fortunate and blessed to have developed such faith. It took painful pruning to get here but I wouldn't trade any of that suffering for a life without it. That self inflicted torturous lifestyle I once lived I am blessed to have gone through. Without my understanding and faith would not be what it is now. The ability to choose to look away and follow through on it is a gift I know I only keep if I am constantly reaching out to God for help in all areas. Not just the train wrecks but always everyday. Thank you God for these purpose filled days 🙏

Contrary to this we must not turn blind eyes to injustice. As soliders of the most high we must fight every spiritual battle we're called on to participate in. Anything else is cowardly.

This is SO timely. I try to avoid seeing as much as I possibly can. I watch little to no tv, movies, videos. I don’t go into some stores. My trouble comes when out in public or sometimes at work. I try so hard to not let my head be on a swivel. I look around at the environment I am in. I don’t do it to see women, but to just know where I’m at - especially if it’s somewhere I’ve never been. Often times there are women around that will catch my eye. I look away almost instantly - no matter how they are dressed. So, I am working on not swiveling. My wife thinks I do it to see women. My Christian counselor tells me it’s something men do. We look to know our environment so we can better protect others and I guess even ourselves. This, along with dishonesty, has crushed my wife and destroyed trust. I am much better at it, but as I’ve told my wife, this habit has been built over a course of 40 years. It won’t change overnight. We could use your prayers.

The world of full of temptations, if we decide to take the bait. Stay focused on the Cross and Jesus. He will keep us on the right path. Love you Jesus! 💙💚❤️💜

I’ve found choosing to unfollow and mute various people on social media is a choice I can make to lessen various temptations daily that can and will eventually lead me back to porn. When I see one of those “look at me” posts, I mute them. I don’t unfriend or block etc, no need to, just mute so that it doesn’t cross my path. It was then I learned, I can mute all sorts of things in my life that cause my eyes and mind to wander… the news, certain stores, apps, even advertisements. It is our responsibility to do all we can to minimize temptations around us. When I first got sober, I didn’t go to bars, obviously. When I first quit porn, I didn’t go to strip clubs, obviously. Following Christ means we get to work in the details, the not so obvious areas where temptations begin and fester. God, help me to focus in with honesty today on any areas that tempt me away from focusing on you and your will for me today, and give me the strength to “mute” them, amen 🙏🏻

This is good stuff. Jesus, teach us to dim the light OF worldly things and help us to be your light IN the world.

Amen. This was so good! Knowing that God will help us and can dim our gaze on valueless pursuits.

That’s real talk right there. God help me keep my eyes on you and off the world.
158/365: Guard Your Eyes From Worthless Things
Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. ~ Psalm 119:37
The world doesn't care what it shows you. There is no responsibility of anyone to respect your values or be mindful of the weakness in your flesh.
The only person in charge of your "gaze" is ... you. Yes, you will "see" things you shouldn't see, but you don't have to "seek" those things. You don't "have" to keep staring.
Choose to gaze upon the things which bring life and always ask for God's help with every glance.
