143/365: Fight For Your Purity

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. ~ Psalm 119:9

Purity is so much more than a struggle against sexual tempations. Purity is the filter of everything flowing through a man's heart, mind, and soul. It is a condition - a conviction.

Can a man reclaim his purity? Absolutely! Begin with God's forgiveness. Follow by forgiving yourself to overcome by crushing that feeling of shame. Then attack every temptation with a plan.

Be alert, however, evil comes back harder when it is denied. You must have a plan.

The Plan: With every moment of temptation, memorize and pray these words of psalmist's answer to the question he asked in 119:9...

10 I seek you with all my heart;
    do not let me stray from your commands.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart
    that I might not sin against you.
12 Praise be to you, Lord;
    teach me your decrees.

It's a blessing to interact with Men of God about different topics. You guys are truly a blessing alot of us are going through things. We need prayers answered. Not just for those negative things, but also for the continuation of the blessing that we are receiving in our lives. I thank God for all of you guys.

I feel your struggles Scott, I too battle against impure thoughts and sexual immorality. I use to struggle with pornography and still fall back to it. I thank God for breaking the bondage of my pornography addiction. Again I slip back to my old ways but do my best to not beat myself up and know there is no condemnation.

Good message and testimonies this morning. At almost 70 years old, I still struggle with temptations of impurity. Prayer and positive distractions help but this continues to be a battle for me.

One thing I have found to help me is as soon as those thoughts rise up…I rise up…I get up and do something different…then once I am centered on God I can go back to whatever I was doing to begin with. The devil will throw those fiery darts at you constantly…we have to dodge them and throw the word of the Lord back at him!

We must also remember that our wives are our helpmates and partners and gifts from God whom we are to lead like Christ leads us. After 27 years I've learned that evil tries to break marriages by pitting spouses against each other. Read "The Man of her dreams, the woman of his" and you'll learn how to be a godly husband who doesn't blame their wife but builds then up. I pray Jesus that you will open our eyes to how our marriage is being attacked and strengthen us for battle.

I look at it like I have to reclaim my purity everyday when I wake up. That’s my plan to stay close to God and stay protected against the evil one and the evil ones lies. I then must keep my mind trained with meditation so I can recognize when my thoughts shift away from God as soon as possible. Then when they do pray to God for the assist to center me back up and help me to gently curve thoughts back into His light. It is relatively simple just like eating clean and exercising hard to stay at peak fitness is easy once it’s decided that is just a way of life. This too I believe works the same. It is just my way of life now to do these things and tune myself back into to Gods frequency range whenever I drift. It’s my responsibility to recognize the drift though. Meditation trains my mind to do just that and ground back into the moment. Thank you God for the entire spectrum of things you have taught me and continue to teach me. I love you God amen 🙏

Yes, it can be a struggle at times, but we must press forward and honor our God by following His commands. While the pull of temptations is strong, the promise of heaven is greater. The choice is ours. Love you Jesus! 💚🤎💜💙

God has called us to live holy, not to live impure lives. 1Thessalonians 4:7. God has given us everything we need to live godly lives. 2 Peter1:3-5. God makes the way of escape for EVERY temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13. We have spiritual artillery to defeat Satan, our flesh, and the world. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13. These are some of the verses I hold onto in my battle for purity. There are a lot of others. Deuteronomy 31:6 and Joshua 1:9. I could go on. Be strong in the Lord my brothers! He is with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Temptation is real and can be strong. We must endure to the end. Our God - the one true God - will see us through! He is for us and He will help us to fight! Never give up! Rak Chazak Amats! (Deuteronomy 31:6)

DeAnthony, I have been married 30 years and blessed with 5 kids -oldest 28 youngest 18. You described me and the way I felt about my wife for many years. Once I started learning how to connect with my wife, all the excuses I made up in my mind about her and our physical life began to diminish. 2 books I highly suggest: Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus and The 5 love languages by Gary Chapman.

The struggle is real for all married men.Wives saying their tired all the time. Or holding grudges against us and constantly blaming us. And then not wanting no sexual intercorse

There are definitely days where temptation takes a hold on me and I fall short over and over again. My wife has to sleep with our daughter with Down syndrome, so that means I get our bed alone in the evening. I have battled impure sexual thoughts since I was a kid, and I still battle them today. You all can see where I’m going with this challenge. It’s a continuous fight that’s for sure!
