125/365: A Formula For Happiness

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. ~ Micah 6:8

There is no need to chase riches, wealth, or status to find happiness. The land is littered with unhappy, miserable people with money and accomplishments.

Instead, look to God and His original, flawless design of happiness and contentment.

Be fair with others. Show compassion. Love others. Stay humble. Enjoy the moments you have.

Like many of the guys get I’m grateful for my family job and especially God. I know I really messed things up when I got into drugs and alcohol but God pulled me out if that mess. I’m now actively seeking God like I should have been all along.

Today is a hard day. Today is the last day with my dog before going to put him to sleep tomorrow. A six year old Rottie who has been such a blessing. Even though tomorrow is going to be rough I am so thankful for the time God given me with him. I will always find true happiness in God the one who created my joy regardless of the situation I’m in.

I'm thankful for the Father's unconditional and unending love and forgiveness along with the comfort his Spirit brings. For the almost 40 years He gave me with my wife before she went home to Him in early March and knowing that even though I'm severely heart broken she is no longer suffering on her long journey with cancer. I'm thankful for my children and grandchildren and pray that He somehow uses her passing to bring them closer to Him. Praise God.

Praise our Almighty Father in Heaven! I am grateful for His grace and the spiritual transformation that arises from it, my wife and kids, and the physical and spiritual healing that God provides when I need it the most! Two years ago, I was the prodigal son, lost in my selfish, greedy pursuits of vanity, lust, and debauchery. Exactly 2 years ago, I hit rock bottom, and headed back to my heavenly father, who welcomed me with open arms, placed a robe on my shoulders, and killed the fattened calf in celebration of my return! I did not deserve this reception, but how great is God‘s love for us, that, while we were still sinners, he sent his son to die for us on the cross, and save us! Thank you Lord, I am so grateful!

Thanks for all you sharing your strengths . I feel that is what gratitude is about . I thank God for His grace , that all I have to do is seek Him, my fiance and children. Those are my links in order on the long chain today . ⛓️ I was tired of pushing that chain around not putting God first. I'm grateful I have quit fighting and surrendered. God first in my life has abled me to now pull that chain of life around anywhere , through anything . It's amazing the strength that it is in gratitude. I love all of you comrades . I’m thankful for God’s unconditional and unwavering love and support, enough so that He gave us Jesus. I’m thankful for the many blessings in my life, my family and loved ones, my friends, my church and recovery families. I’m also thankful for the challenges my life here on earth has brought me, and allowed me the ability to overcome and grow through surrendering them over to God. My alcoholism and various addictions are what brought me that gift of desperation, desperate enough to finally ask for help, to seek. I see now the thorns in my side are necessary, the challenges each day bring a valuable test for me to continue bringing things to God’s feet. Each day an opportunity to utilize this set of spiritual tools Jesus so eloquently describes how to use amongst others. Each day an opportunity to focus on giving thanks for the many blessings we have, and surrender what we want for to God’s will, and God’s perfect timing. Each day a clean slate, remembering that I am perfect today in God’s eyes, so long as I’m truly focused on serving Him, and being a channel of his peace towards others. Each day as unique as each of us, and an opportunity to grow my spiritual family by shining my light for others to see. God, I’m so thankful for you, amen 🙏🏻

I am so thankful for Christ who sacrificed himself for our Salvation and His Father who willingly gave His Son. I’m also grateful for my family who has put up with my shortcomings as a husband and father for 27.5 years now and their sticking by me. Also I am thankful to be able to do as much as I can in spite of my health issues. For good measure I want to thank God, Jesus and the Holy for helping me break my 50 addiction to porn. For those that are disabled or partially disabled I agree concentrate on what you can do and accept those things that you can’t. There are many days my lungs just say nope you are not going to do that today on other days it is my back but when I do feel like it I get out in my wood shop and give it my all. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity when I do feel like doing and accept those times when I don’t.

God and the peace He brings. My family and friends. Life itself. I think gratitude is at the heart of a happy life. To me it is finding contentment in the little areas of life. It’s sort of like why wait to be happy for some major accomplishments when I can be happy now and still work towards goals. I used to think that I need to put all my focus on whatever goal I was working on and twist happiness in there like well when I get to that I’ll be super happy. I generally would be happy too when I hit it but never as happy as I imagined it would make me. Plus all along the way I generally was making myself unhappy because I was focusing hard on something I don’t have yet. Focusing on what I don’t have is a great way to sink into a depression. I know that from my own walk. One of the best tools for this appreciation for the little things is meditation. It’s like training the mind to notice and feel all the little things going on in a momentary slice of time. Tie that together with God being present with me in meditation and boom that’s like a super power. So fellas if you haven’t tried meditation I’d highly recommend it and if you haven’t tried it I’d additionally recommend using an app like headspace for example to learn it and guide it so you can see what’s it’s all about. It indeed is a super power for being in the moment now. Thank you God for your work and guidance for me. I love you God amen 🙏

Man I needed to read your replies today! Wife has Ménière’s disease and her symptoms are now spreading to her other ear and she’s so independent and stubborn…just really sad watching her suffer and I can’t fix it. I am still so thankful for her and our kids and the job I get to do from home to be near her and help as much as she will allow me but Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit…we could sure use a reprieve from all the sickness and bad news that has avalanched down upon us lately! Please make your love known to us today-give us a small victory so that our hope is rekindled, help us remember that you are in control even in the darkest times!!!

Frank, praying for you brother. My wife’s moderately disabled, can’t walk much. Hampers our early retirement years. A doc told her recently, “Stop focusing on things you can’t do and concentrate on things you can do!” I never thought about it that way but she took it to heart and its helped. I know it’s tough, but our Heavenly Father and His Savior Son are with you all the way, pal.

This is something I struggle with. I am disabled and get so focused on the things I'm missing out on that I end up missing out on the I can do. I'm going to try to focus on what I can do and take the opportunities I am able to.
