Some good comments. I struggle with friends because I group up In a dysfunctional family and carried those habits into adulthood. I’m aware of this and working on it.

I agree Ethan. When I was "in the world," I thought I had friends. Yet when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and quit doing drugs, I quickly discovered those "friends" disappeared. The only true friends are those we have in Christ. Our true friends are those who are willing to pray for us, and us for them, as we hold each other accountable.

My father always said if you find one good true real friend in life. You're a very fortunate man.

I can say that I am very blessed to have just that. A friend that is closer than my own brother.

Growing up as an awkward kid that moved almost every year I never had much for friends and that continued into my adult life. Since starting my journey in Christianity that has changed and I now have several good friends that I would say are closer than my brothers and many acquaintances that are pretty good friends. I have noticed though that I tend to receive a lot more from those friendships than I am willing to give and realize that I have been pretty selfish. I pray that I can stop being selfish and be willing to help my friends just as much or more than they have helped me

I hope and pray I am of good service to my close friends. I know that is very important to me to be supportive and helpful when asked. I think it is important to not forcefully help friends but be there in a way that builds trust in the friendship that difficult things that one is going through can be brought up and help can be asked for. I want to be able to always be helpful God and use the lense of truth from You not the lense of the world when helping out a friend with something. In that way as friends we are helping each other grow towards you God and that is the ultimate goal for all of us. Thank you for helping me to become a better friend than I once was. Thank you for a purpose built life. I love you God amen 🙏

I need to learn this. Too often in the past when I actually had friends I wanted to get more than I give. I think I still have that tendency. Life is all about me. I need to repent and to be there for my brothers. Father God, please forgive me once again my selfishness. Please help me to live selflessly the rest of my days. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

This devotion goes hand in hand with day 120. We need Godly friends who can hold us accountable. I think it was “Old Dude” referenced Proverbs 18-1, A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.
123/365: Power of True Friendship
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. ~ Proverbs 18:24
God created us to be connected - not to be loners. We are closer to some of our friends than other friends. A true brother is a blessing.
To find a Godly friend like that... be a Godly friend like that.
