I think of the sabbath as a rhythm. As a pastor, Sunday is often the most intense workday of the week for me. Monday is usually my rest day, when I get to "decompress" with the Lord and my family.

Not to be sarcastic, Michael, but it’s the 7th day. Every 7 days... rest in the lord. For Old Testament Israel it was Sundown on Friday (making Saturday the sabbath - before printed calendars and clocks). The Christian calendar came along and it was declared Sunday to be the end of the week - therefore it became the 7th day. Afterwards, Christians chose to celebrate and worship on Sunday since it was the “resurrection” day of the week for Christ. In modern times, the sabbath has been somewhat merged with church services. The bottom line of Jesus’ clarification is that the Sabbath is a day made holy by God for man. A day of rest. Some get hung up on which day, but God is more concerned with our heart and our well being. The main concern is to find that rest in the Lord - and in most cultures, Sunday is the choice.

Lord Jesus, teach us to find our rest in You.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. ~ God Exodus 20:8
God knows us pretty well. We can become so self-involved that we skip the down time, or worse... skip time with Him.
God made a day of rest for you and me. It's our time to slow down, find renewal, and reflect on everything God is to us and all He has done for us.
Don't forget to take the day God gave you to rest, relax, and remember God's grace. It's a gift of joy and happiness - be grateful.
How do you re-charge your batteries and re-focus on His grace?
