Something that I have come across that has helped me is from a quote of Lou Holtz, “What’s Important Now?” aka W.I.N. If we focus on our present and make the best possible choices in our present and not dwell on our past or worry about our future, then we will win at this thing called life. Be Blessed brothers!

What does a person have real true and honest agency over? It’s only two things that anyone can truly control. My thoughts and my actions. Everything else can have other inputs that I frankly will not have control over. Tomorrow and yesterday are outside of the scope of control. I can look to tomorrow to set goals but I must be grounded in todays journey to reach them. God gives a little bit of light to see into the moment. The rest is all faith that He is guiding us to where He needs us to go which might not be where you would think presently but it will be exactly where you are needed. His plan rarely makes sense in the moment. Death of a loved one, failed relationships, troubled kids, work strife, war, etc. It all serves a purpose that we will never be able to fully comprehend. So focus on what good can be done today and leave it at that. Monitor your thoughts and actions so you are the master of them and not a slave to impulses and reactiveness. Thank you God for always teaching more. I love you God amen 🙏

My wife has given up on our marriage. I have failed to live up to her expectations and we have a 3 year old daughter who I don’t want to grow up with another man calling him dad. I am broken and trying to figure out how to move forward. This message is helping me focus on the now and only giving attention to what I can change at this moment. I haven’t eating in 4 days and I’m barely sleeping. I pray things will change and surrender myself to Gods will. Say a prayer for me please.

Jesus died on the cross to pay for our past. He bore our shame and guilt and regret so that we don’t have to. Now it’s on us to praise Him for his wonderful works. May God have mercy on us all to learn this and be thankful to Him.

Thanks, Jerome, for sharing Isaiah 43:18. God spoke to me through it.

I thank God that the past is behind me and that my past sins are forgiven. I thank you Jesus, for what you did for me, a sinner. Praise to my Lord and Savior! ❤️🙏

The past can suck if I dwell on it. God's will comes into play when I find myself right where I am supposed to be.
In that way, life has been perfect if you can fathom that.
I like what was said about the past being the most important part of your spiritual journey.
We all have individual experiences and perceive life in different ways. There is only one truth, and that is God's truth. I seek it every present moment.
God bless ya'll, my brothers.

Great words from everyone this morning. One of my biggest failings is living in the past and dwelling on my past mistakes and failures. Although I have been blessed with a good marriage and comfortable life, I still find myself hanging on to, and being haunted by, my past sins and shortcomings. At nearly 70 years old I still have regrets from my early years. I know that I need to live life in the present and follow the path God has laid out for me. When I get down on myself I think of Isaiah 43:18 "Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past". Have a blessed day.

good morning brothers, this past year has been really tough for me because of my past actions/reactions. I have been really sticking close to God and his word. I had expectations that He will help me close doors on my past mistakes. But God and his Mischievous ways Open more doors around this situation so I could keep moving forward. I let go today because I know he's got me! #truelove

We each have a past, and it’s a valuable tool to learn from and shape our future. We can’t change it, but we can definitely learn from it and move forward. Yes the past can be painful, and yes the future is unknown, but with God by our side we can move forward with confidence. Love you Jesus! 💜🤎🧡💙

My past, surrendered to God, is my most precious resource in doing God’s will for me today. So, why would I wish to forget or shut the door on it? If I truly and wholeheartedly ask that God use me today, that He allow me to be a channel of His love and Grace today, He WILL place others in my path and allow me the opportunity to witness to them the miracles He’s performed in my life. My witness, is based on my past. My witness, is comprised of my failures, and His wins. If there are pieces of my past that still cause great pain, sorrow, regret, or even anger, then I have not surrendered those to God’s feet, and I have not prayed sufficiently for those people, to ALLOW God to remove from me those negative emotions, and therefore remove the power they hold over me, so that I can then wield them in service to Him in order to help the next suffering person God places in my path. If I’m truly recovered from my life of sin, then there is no situation I should Dube able to imagine in which my faith can not overcome my fear, or my anxiety. I’m a combat vet with once diagnosed severe PTSD, which is simply a medical diagnosis for the inability to live life on life’s terms. Truly surrendering over the things of my past, was the only treatment I needed I found. I am recovered, I am free, because I am fully Gods 🙏🏻

Amen Robert and Tommy! I used to hear this at AA meetings a lot: ‘If you have one foot in the past and one in the future then you’re perfectly positioned to pee all over the present!” Today is the day the Lord has made-let us rejoice and be glad in it!!

I have been told at times that I live to much in my past and while I reference what had happened in my past I try to do so to show others that you can truly overcome anything and everything that the enemy throws at us. It is true that we can not live in or change our past because it is just that; the past is the past it is dead and gone. I can not go back and change anything has been done even one millisecond ago. What has been done is done, what is said is said and there is no going back. All we can do to impact the second that we live our life the best we can for God in the herd and now. We can remember the past and we can remember what happened to learn from it. We must however let go of the past and not worry and fret about it. The best thing we can do about our past is to forgive those that hurt us, ask those we hurt to forgive us, forgive ourselves of our sins as we ask God to forgive our sins. As far as the future the only thing that we can do to impact it is to ask God to lead and guide us in His perfect will as we walk into it from this moment on. So stop worrying about the past or the future which you can not change and think about the moment that we are in and live the best we can for God in each moment.

270/365: Letting Go of the Past
Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. ~ Ecclesiastes 7:10
"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." - Bill Keane
Feel stuck in the past? Held back by yesterday's mistakes? Can't focus on today for worrying about tomorrow?
Stop and take a look around. God is steadily at work all around you, right now. Just as he always has been and always will be.
Do you need to let go of your past? Are you ready to live today and receive the blessing of this moment? Tomorrow will bring it's own slate of things to handle.
GO DEEPER: Matthew 6: 25-34
Next Step: Focus on one thought today. Ask God to open your eyes to see Him all around you.
