232/365: The Love of God in Action

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? ~ 1 John 3: 17

There is no formula for when you should and shouldn't help your brothers and sisters in Christ or anyone who is struggling.

If we have posessions... we become the extension of God's love and grace to help those in need.

There is time for getting encouragement from this app, or praying and spending quiet time with God. And there is a time for going to your brothers and sisters in need to demonstrate God's command to love them as yourself.

Next Step: Help comes in the form of food, shelter, clothing, love, prayer, encouragement, or any other way God's spirit moves you. Tune in and engage.

I’ve recently started a morning devotional group with my sister, cousin, and a couple friends of mine but I’ve been struggling the past couple days to find stuff as I’m scared I’ll say something or do something wrong. All I need is some advice because I want to continue doing this as it feels like something I’m made to do. And prayers to you Brandon 🙏 stay strong

I always try to send Gods love to others with a smile on my face when I meet people in general to out a smile them as well. It may be when I’m ordering food at a restaurant or ordering coffee. I believe a smile goes a long way. Have a blessed day brothers 🙏!

I think the formula that makes sense to me and I understand is if I can help I should probably help. I think back through my own life and so many different people helped in all sorts of ways. The best ways generally weren’t the most comfort seeking kind of help. More like shining the light of truth into my life. Especially when I lived in the dark. Thanks to God I get to carry the light of truth with me everywhere I go. I should shine it for my brothers and sisters but also I must be patient. For most including myself that light is bright. Kind of like when I get up to use the restroom at night and the bathroom light comes on. Then it almost hurts the eyes at first but no one turns away they wait while their eyes adjust and after a brief period of discomfort suddenly they see everything. I think the light of truth is a lot like this. When we shine it in another’s life often times in my experience it stings their eyes a bit and or they see the mess they have made and want that light shut off or removed so they don’t have to pick up the mess. But it’s the light of truth and it is perfect. I ask you God to help my not so perfect self be a good light bearer to others. That I just lift Your light high for others to see and I lift it at the perfect angle that they just see the light not me holding it. This is how You saved me. May I be equipped to save another the same way every time the opportunity presents itself. I love you God amen 🙏

I give generously to my church and always try to help others as I can. I try to be the hands and feet of Jesus when I can. Love God, Love Others. Love you Jesus! 🤎❤️💜💙

Mark 12:28-31 ESV 28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” In loving others we also show our love for God. I have found many ways to love others without it costing a fortune. One of those is to keep your mind open to God and letting him tell you who to help. This past week at the farmer market I had stepped away from the booth for a moment and went I return there was a young couple with two children in their arms standing at the corner of the booth. I walked up to them asking if the older you would like a car. Their eyes let up and they quickly accepted. With the father telling me that the child had been having a grumpy day all but now his face had a bright smile on it. The boy of course saw the last of the larger cars I had and wanted it so the parents bought it for him which made him even happier. It is not necessarily the big flashy things we do for others but many times it is the small things that do the most good for others.

I give in as many ways as I can, money has never really been one of them-bc I’ve always been lower class when it comes to income as a school teacher trying to raise a family. I’ve often experienced guilt over this fact but I give of my time and produce from our garden and eggs from our chickens and clothing, etc…just most months not enough money to go around
