264/365: Finding Purpose in Your Work

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. ~ Ecclesiastes 3: 12-13

When a man connects his talent with his toil... he finds joy and satsifaction. Not all of us are blessed to be able to earn a living doing the things we love to do.

Perhaps your passion isn't the work, but the relationships you form at the work place? Might this be the mssion field God has called you to cultivate?

Robert and I have a collection of screenshots of my shares here in the LiveBold kickstart from when I first added this app to my morning routine. Ive gone back and read some from the beginning, and hi h was also near the beginning of my recovery from alcoholism and spiritual journey growing closer to Jesus. I would like to use this collection of 400ish screenshots to create a devotional of sorts for the newcomer to sobriety, hopefully bridging the gap from sobriety to Jesus as their source for it. I’d encourage you to just start, pencil to paper as someone said. My daughter struggles with reading, her dyslexia has held her back a few grade levels, but recently she latched on to a comic style book and has not put it down. She’s loving the fact that she can turn pages finally. Please, answer this calling God has placed on your heart. I, for one, would hand it to my daughter knowing she’d be learning about Jesus 🙏🏻

Hey guys, this reminds me of my favourite verse. 1 Thessalonians 4 11/12. “Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not Christians will respect the way that you live, and you will not need to depend on others.” To all my redneck blue collars out there. God bless

Morning brothers and Gods blessings on us all. Robert my brother you are not alone in your lacking to follow through. Every single person on the planet has the exact same issues. Very few of us have the drive, focus and control in Will to stay on a very specific goal. No matter how much it means to us, satan and his band of evil spirits tries to keep us down. “Your not good enough, smart enough or after everything you’ve done why would you think you can do that. And to a point he/they are right kinda, none of us in ourselves are worthy. But we are not ourselves anymore, we are in Christ Jesus and he is in us. So now we are the righteousness of Gods in Christ. So we are good enough, we have Gods wisdom and he is with us to do “ALL” things for his glory. What if your comic books are Gods special plan for your. What if that’s how your supposed to get out the gospel and touch lives for him. Have faith in Jesus and don’t believe a single accusation from the other side. I look forward to reading your comic books and scripts in the future. God bless and keep us all in Jesus name. Amen

Robert, i have written a novel and am now seeking an agent to represent it. i wrote most of it while working a regular job. It took me ten years and was still not finished. when i retired i finished it and rewrote parts of it where i saw gaps, inconsistencies, etc. My suggestion is to just get a full story on paper. Then you can refine the story. Just get your head down and finish-don’t worry if it’s not perfect right away!

Finding joy in a mundane job or role can be very difficult. I know this because I love this working in tech. Sometimes it’s super exciting when deploying new super modern cutting edge backbone gear on the network. Those are some of the cool moments but they don’t happen all the time. Most of the time it is making sure the network is operating at peak efficiency and fixing problems that may arise. Ensuring the network facilities are in tiptop shape and everything is kept to the GR1275 standard and constantly auditing the sites for discrepancies that need fixed. This can get very mundane and it’s a solo position 90% of the time. The only thing I have ever found that makes the days enjoyable is simply trying my best and always looking for ways I could have done something better. Incremental improvements over time. They add up to huge improvements over the years. And not comparing myself to an ultra veteran of the industry but compare me to me yesterday. Am I better than yesterdays me or did I go backwards? God wants us to move forward and be accountable when we get lazy so that we get back to work for His glory not our own. So make that smidge of progress today because God is watching and He wants you to be successful in your work. Besides trying your best usually makes work most enjoyable. I love you God amen 🙏

Good morning by brothers in Christ Jesus. Well Robert, join the gang. I also have such good intentions but don't follow through. My main project is to learn to play the piano, but never get to it. Everything thing is there, piano,books,quiet space. The purpose for this is I would like to play in nursing homes for the shut-ins. Let us all continue to pray for one another for more disci pline in our lives. May God richly anoint each of you in Jesus name. Stay strong. Amen.

Robert, I think that is great gift and I great idea. Children and even adults love comic books. That is great way get people see God’s love, salvation, what faith looks like and how to be a follower of Jesus. I’ll be praying for you and forward to reading it.

I’ve struggled with this probably my entire working life. It’s even harder since my wife thinks all I do, no matter where I go, is look at women. ————————————————————— I have wanted to create comic books for as long as I can remember. Idk that I’m passionate about anything, but if I am, it’s about that. Faith based comic books. Adventure, superhero, western. I’ve had ideas for stories for years. However, as I’ve shared before, I have no follow through. I feel like I’m not good enough. I am SO easily distracted. I have lots of excuses. I’ll start a new idea before finishing the first. I have 2 scripts to work on. One from a a guy in California and another from my son. I have countless concepts floating around in my head. I feel like I just don’t have the time or enough talent to work on them. Super frustrating!
