258/365: Giving For the Right Reason

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:7

Be careful to never compare your faith to another person's faith. There is no stated biblical contest for who can be "the most faithful."

There is no greater or lesser favor given to anyone based on what he or she gives or offers to others or the church.

The compulsion of your heart is the only measure of your gifts of time, energy, talents, service, or money. There is no performance scale - only love which drives us to serve.

@Ben Shaeffer - Praying for your event. I would love to attend, but it's a 2,300 mile drive from Poway, CA. My family used to go camping in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park when I was a kid. As close to heaven in this life. 🙏🏻

There are actually so many things we need in our little town of Leaf River, Illinois I see a lot of suffering from those who need God in their lives. I try to give loving support and not judge anyone. Our church is so small, and we are currently without a pastor. I want a revival here and pray that I can do more. God bless ya'll

Not going to lie this is an area I have to stay very very aware of. I’m hard wired to be on the far end of being competitive. This tends to spill into nearly every area of my life. Most of the time it is a good thing that keeps me motivated and trying my best. What I’ve had to learn is not to focus on the end result but to focus on the journey itself. Listening to others journeys and stories first and sharing mine second. I find I can be much more helpful to those around me if I help in this manner. Sometimes my role in a given situation is to be quiet and help from the sidelines or just when asked. I think that is most helpful for a few reasons when helping another. One they learn by doing it themselves. Two they learn they must ask for help when needed. Three they learn their own way of doing it. It might be similar to mine but everyone is a little different so learning your own best way to do anything is going to be the optimized route. Thank you God for toning my competitive nature down a bit and realigning to be helpful to others not just myself. I love you God amen 🙏

Good morning brothers. I have been blessed with a life filled with experiences that I would ask "why me God why me"? being able to share with others how Jesus gives me the strength to keep going and never giving up. even when I think that the things I go through are to push me over the edge, I look back at them and see the lessons he was always trying to show me. the journey in life that Jesus blessed me with is to help others keep motivated to keep searching for him and his love. I'll keep fighting because there is a reason why I'm still here today Jesus help me to understand.

There is a paradox to living our faith-it’s an individual walk, and God works in and through each of us in a unique way. And yet, we take the walk together. Maybe that’s because we are all uniquely approaching faith in one true God, and he brings us together!

I have been praying about getting men together in the Smoky Mountain District for two years and it is finally going to happen. Our District Superintendent Jay Lee is leading worship and paying for Haywood Smoke House Barbecue. We have invited pastors and lay leaders to learn about the new discipleship tools by The United Men’s Ministry
