Cleaning comes easy to me, but telling my kids to do it over and over again doesn’t .. I think I need to just start teaching them and not getting so angry so quick about having to teach them. I mean I’ve been repeating myself for a few years. But an then again . The Holy Spirit has been trying to teach me for years too. Don’t be a hypocrite dad . Show grace to your children because God has shown you Grace

I enjoyed Bret's thoughts because it made me think how cool it is when we we're just being ourselves, not thinking about "trying" to do God's will - and our actions are noticed by someone. It's reassuring when other people show gratitude. It puts a little pep in our step and encourages us to stay positive and faithful in our fellow man and woman.

Good comments everyone. But AC your "why can't I have a 'cool' gift" comment made me think... and chuckle. You make a good point. We all have gifts to give and use for the benefit of others. Sometimes it might be something that doesn't seem important at all - like patience, holding a door, a thumbs up. But to someone else, it could mean the world... Keep the faith, Brothers.

God can use us in so many different ways and times that we don't even realize it until someone tells us I have a for instance when I still lived in Cottage Grove Oregon I was working at Walmart some friends of mine they are married and when I was working either see the husband or the wife but never together one day as I was working I seen them both together in their car of course I talked with them for a while I mentioned to them I've seen both of you here but never together it's to the both of you at the same time needless to say I didn't realize that just saying that 8t meant a lot to them and it touched them, God used me even though I was unaware of it on one Sunday my Pastor came up to me and said that the couple came to him and mentioned to him of what I said to them at Walmart I blessed someone through God and it touched me and I was blessed on that so God can use us in so many different ways as even just to say Hi and a smile to someone .

We each have some type of gift from God. Find a way to use that gift to serve others. It may just be listening to someone. We can all serve others. Love you Jesus! 💜💙💚❤️

I’ve been a volunteer fireman and EMT off and on alot of my life. People think I’m crazy but I really enjoy it. That’s how I serve outside of being a pastor of a church or a chaplain of a prison.

It is true that something you can offer, that you think is basic or unexciting, can serve God's kingdom. I recently helped our church family setup the WiFi and there was an outpouring of gratitude. I'm sure each of us here can perform some small task that you think nothing of but that will mean the world to someone else. Churches need the floors swept, the bathroom cleaned, the coffee made, the windows washed...you don't have to have the gift of preaching or teaching a small group. it's enough just to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

My wife tells me that I have an authoritative voice and need to use it more for God. Not sure how though.

People say I have the gift of listening. I always think, “Doesn’t everyone?” I find myself often wondering (complaining to myself) why can’t I have a “cool” gift? I’ve learned that truly listening seems to be a rare skill indeed. I’ve learned to thank Jesus for the gifts He’s given me instead of yearning for others. He truly knows better than me and I’ve seen how my gifts have blessed others.
160/365: You Are The Light
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. ~ 1 Peter 4:10
Our giftings and talents are those things which come easy to us. While it may seem insignificant to help someone with small easy taks, if they need help - it's a big deal to them.
You can mend fences or pull weeds. You can be a big brother to a fatherless child. Tutor a student. Help a group set up their computers. Build a handicap ramp. Change a light bulb.
There are a hundred or more opportunities to serve others within your community right now. You are the body of Christ - put it in motion.
