A Christian Man: He's Truthful

Written by: Greg Arnold

The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.  - Isaiah 29:13 (NIV)

If our faith consists simply of talking about God with no evidence of following God's commands, we are nothing more than an empty puff of hot air.  Routinely attending church, going through the motions of rituals, and demonstrating no real evidence of Christ in our life is weak and ineffective.

God cared enough to help us retrain our hearts by giving an example of sacrificial love through Christ.  We choose to worship God because we love him.  If we spend more time convincing people with our lips that God is first in our life rather than demonstrating our obedience to Him, perhaps we should make a few modifications.

If a stranger to God watches us and our proclamations of faith only to see a Sunday-morning-saint and a weekday-hellion, then why would they want to bother getting to know God?  Christian men are bold enough to walk the walk.  Never get caught up in lip service.

THE RIGHT NEXT STEP

What 3 words would you use to describe God to an unbeliever?

What 3 words would you use to describe your relationship with God?

PRAY:  God, I want to be a man who reflects your love from the inside-out.  Give me the strength to live with character that comes from knowing you. Amen.
